Ab-Soul is ready to get back on the road. With his latest album, Herbert, hitting last year, Soul is ready to take off on his The Intelligent Movement tour.
The summer 2023 run will take Soulo through Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Washington D.C., and more. The tour will run the entire month of June, beginning on June 2 and wrapping on June 30.
Ab-Soul’s new album, Herbert, is now available. The album, six years in the making, brings in a stacked list of features in Joey Badass, Big Sean, Jhené Aiko, Russ, Fresh, Ambré, ALEMEDA, and TDE’s SiR, Punch, Zacari, and Lance Skiiiwalker. DJ Premier, Sounwave, James Blake, Hit-Boy, Boi-1da, and more contributed to the production.
In a new conversation with Charlamagne Tha God, Soulo opened up about a suicide attempt in which he would have jumped off a freeway overpass.
“I pretty much finished the album before I did what I did,” he said. “How I’m choosing to take it is — and I’m not giving it credit — but it brought me down to a place where I needed to be as vulnerable as possible, and as soon as I said everything I needed to say, I jumped.”
Soul revealed the incident caused him to lose his teeth and he is awaiting implants. He also stated his jaw is damaged and his foot is completely reconstructed.
Ab-Soul is back! The rapper, born Herbert Anthony Stevens IV, will drop his next album on Dec. 16. The album is named Herbert.
Herbert is described as an “intimate portrait of the man behind Ab-Soul going back to his foundation, as noted by the name of the record, leaving the conspiracy theories he’s known for behind while emphasizing his musicality. After suffering through a series of unspeakable tragedies, Stevens completed the album as a changed man with a new sense of purpose.”
The album is introduced by “Do Better,” which addresses real-life changes in the video. The follow-up is “Gang’Nem,” produced by Soundwave, and salutes his home of Carson, CA.
Just a few weeks after the release of “Scared” featuring Denzel Curry, Kembe X has returned with another record boasting impressive features. ‘Back At It,’ sports verses from fellow up-and-coming sensation ICECOLDBISHOP and the veteran rap legend Ab-Soul. Kembe has already shown his chemistry with both artists across tracks such as “Raised A Fool” and “As I Unfold” with Ab-Soul, and the recent “Keitel Sword” with ICECOLDBISHOP. This trio is exciting in name alone, and they don’t plan to disappoint on their new record full of intricate wordplay and exciting flows.
Since coming off tour with Schoolboy Q late last year and having to cancel his own headlining tour earlier this year due to the pandemic, Chicago native, Kembe has been locked up in the studio in Los Angeles, working on his craft. Kembe X continues to proves his growth as a un-conventional rapper through his avant-garde ability to reinvent his sound and style while staying true to his individuality.
