R&B singer Rihanna is dealing with a world of pain right now. The Grammy-winning crooner has come forward to announce the tragic loss of a huge supporter at the hands of cancer.

On Thursday, RiRi went to Instagram to reveal the crushing news to her 66.5 million followers.

Navy Angels! This Christmas, we lost a beautiful spirit who was such a pillar of strength to us! Most of our friendship she’s spent in a hospital or doctor’s office! This picture was just a few months ago, she looked at me and said “Rih the cancer is back” I’ll never forget the fear in her eyes this day! I haven’t posted in a while because there was so much going on.. so much pain, so many bad news, just too much. and right in the worst time, she‘s there for me. this made my day. thank you robyn, for being so real and supportive. and thanks to everyone else who is supportive in any way, every comment, every dm, every prayer – I appreciate it so much tomorrow morning is my next mrt scan, because my left eye is hurting a lot and they gotta make sure I don’t have a new tumor in my brain or something. CAUTION what you get to see when you swipe left are my visible cancer tumors. some people might find this disgusting, but yeah, all the other pics with different angles looked even worse. and this is actually the first time I dare to post anything like this. to the first pic: I’ve spent two days and two nights at the intensive care unit. I’ve been in a lot of pain, the main reason was the big drainage from the surgery. but now it’s because of the growing cancer cells. they are expanding very fast as you can see in the picture. and that’s not the only place they do so. it hurts like hell and I can’t go through a single day without morphine. my new therapy starts on monday, which won’t be another chemo therapy luckily. so let’s hope it will help kill the cancer cells as fast as possible, so one day I won’t need any pain killers anymore to get through the day. thank you for your support #fuckcancer #lookonthebrightside

happy halloween that’s my way of celebrating: getting lung surgery scary right? just one day after they removed the fluid from my lungs, there was already one litre back again. so I needed a permanent solution. that’s why I’m getting surgery to prevent that to ever happen again! I will let you know when I’m awake again. #fuckcancer
