Q&A With Cincinnati’s Very Own Vibe-One

We want to thank you for dropping such a dope mixtape recently “T.M.O.L.R.”, please tell us who is Vibe-One? Where are you from? How did your Hip Hop brand come about? What does the name Vibe-One mean to you?

Vibe-One is an independent artist/producer/performer/engineer. 20plus years.  I’m from Covington, Ky and Cincinnati,Ohio.  I started performing and recording music in the early 90s first making lead way in Columbus Ohio opening up for alot of the legendary Hip Hop artist we still love to this day. In 1995 formed a super group of collective artists in the greater Cincinnati area. We released and still release what would be considered thought provoking lyrical high energy music…… We won best Hip Hop back to back at CEA awards and were voted top 10 most influential artist of the decade in 2000. I later began to record and produce solo music albums etc. I do licensing with tv and movies next big one will be for a Netflix original series called “Diamond” The story of Ronald Hummons who is an entrepreneur, activist, who turned his life around after surviving child abuse and prison and many more opticals.

Vibe-One meaning…… Vibe in one since refers to dancing but even more so energy there’s always a vibe or energy where ever you go in life I choose to bring a peaceful and loving vibe with me wherever I go. The one refers to me being my mother’s first born.

We notice you style is super original and very creative. Give us a little background on you style and how it cam about?

My style of music comes from a love of r&b and hip hop as well as New jack swing I try to incorporate what opened me up as a youngster in my music as much as possible. Raw passionate intelligent Hip Hop music.

Congrats on success of your latest mixtape, “T.M.O.L.R.”. Feel free to breakdown the creative process of the project. (features, production, etc). Where can people find the project?

T.M.O.L.R. stands for The Maturation Of Lid-Roni….. Lid-Roni is a mashup of my name Khalid and Tender Roni lol.
I got the nickname from a High school dance I attended where I put on a slow dance exhibition to the Bobby Brown smash hit………. “Tender Roni” the nickname was born and stayed with me. I thought it would be fitting to go back to that zone mentally because the album centered around relationships and love for music.

Are you planning on releasing any videos to complement “T.M.O.L.R.”. Or are you going to let the record gravitate as an exclusive listening experience?

I have 3 videos so far for this project
I Need You, All That I Can Do, and The Pleasure Is All Mine…. All can be seen on YouTube!

With this industry being so fast pace, being so busy promoting yourself, what advice do you have to those who are barely releasing their first record, and trying to break into the business?

my advice would be to really know who you are targeting with your music that means taking the time to know yourself in that moment of time that you are recording your project. I would say speak from the heart practice on your stage show breath control delivery and connecting with the audience. No matter what your budget is invest in yourself every little bit counts.

How does social media playing a role in your success? How are fans / supporters helping your movement?

Social media lets me connect with people all over the world from Canada Spain Columbia to Asia and Europe.

With this being an underground hip hop site, we always ask this important question. What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?

To me Underground Hip Hop is Unapologetic truth rooted in the passion expressing your love, happiness, and pain to father the art form and culture of music.
