PARTYNEXTDOOR Blasts BET Awards for Nomination Snub

The nominations for the BET Awards were announced earlier this week and PARTYNEXTDOOR was nowhere to be found.

Now the OVO Sound crooner is speaking out about the snub. Taking to Twitter, he put the network on blast for not acknowledging him, while touting his influence as the “R&B artist of our generation.”

“When did black entertainment television get so complex and forget Partynextdoor is the rnb artist of our generation?” he asked in a since-deleted tweet. “Is it because I don’t wanna be friends? Is it because i put value in the art instead of people? Is it because it’s not the popular opinion? I am BET I am Complex.”

He cited his single “The News” as an example of his greatness. “It’s so disrespectful. Name the songs better then ‘ the news.’ I gave people there biggest hits,” wrote the singer-songwriter, who has collaborated on hits with Rihanna and Drake.

“Imagine me making & inspiring the greatest rnb records of our time,” he added in another deleted tweet.

PND released his album PARTYMOBILE in March, but was absent from the BET Awards nominations. In the Best Male R&B/Pop category, the nominees include Anderson .Paak, Chris Brown, Jacquees, Khalid, The Weeknd, and Usher.

The Toronto crooner was not the only snub. Lil Uzi Vert was also shut out of the nominations and shared his reaction on Twitter. “Y’all see how they do ya boy,” tweeted the Philly rapper. “Its because I don’t follow the Rules of HipHop. Its boring.”

Drake leads with six nominations at the BET Awards, followed by Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch with five nods each. The 20th annual show will air live on June 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
