Netflix and More Companies Pull Out SXSW 2020 Due to Coronavirus

Netflix has pulled out from SXSW 2020 due to the rising concerns of coronavirus. The withdrawal of Netflix cancels five film screenings and a #BlackExcellence panel, Variety reports.

Currently, there are 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Texas.

The films that would have been shown at SXSW would be the feature film Uncorked and documentaries A Secret Love, L.A. Originals, Mucho Mucho Amor, Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics. The panel for the forthcoming series #BlackExcellence was set to bring in the show’s creators Kenya Barris and Rashida Jones.

Apple has also pulled out the festival canceling the premiere Spike Jonze’s documentary Beastie Boys Story, along with music series Central Park and docuseries Home. Amazon Studies also pulled out, which cut Upload and Tales of the Loop premieres.

Facebook, TikTok, Mashable, Intel and Twitter have also canceled their plans to attend.
