Michael Eric Dyson has been on his press run promoting his new book Jay-Z: Made in America, and in an interview with NPR Dyson made an interesting comparison between Jay and a famous poet.

The New York Times Best Selling author called Jay-Z “Robert
Frost with a Brooklyn accent.” Dyson cites Woods’ poem “Stopping by Woods on a
Snow Evening” and compares it to Jay-Z’s “What More Can I Say” for it’s “pace,
rhythm, cadence, and simplistic imagery that contains deeper thoughts.”

Robert Frost won  4 Pulitzer
Prize Awards between 1924 and 1943 for his poetry. Frost died of a heart attack
in 1963 at the age of 88.

In the new book, the Georgetown University professor says
that Jay-Z’s lyrics deserve serious study and he even quotes the Hall of Fame
lyricist in his classes and has done so for the past 10 years according to the
author.

Dyson also praises Hov’s “constant desire to be better” as a
hustler from selling drugs to becoming a rap star and entrepreneur who gives
back to the poor. The book was released on November 26.
