Kanye West Will Bring Sunday Service to Coachella

Kanye West is returning to Coachella.

After pulling out of the festival, the rapper has announced that he is bringing his Sunday Service to Weekend 2 of Coachella on Easter Sunday, April 21.

Ye made the announcement while on board a flight. Taking over the plane’s intercom, he informed passengers that he will perform an early morning set during Weekend 2 in Indio, Calif.

“Attention 737 passengers. We’d like to make an announcement that we just booked another show. We will be doing Sunday Service sunrise at Coachella,” he said to cheers from the passengers.

Coachella later confirmed the appearance on Twitter. The festival typically starts around 11 a.m. each day, but Kanye has promised a 9 a.m. performance.

“We were out in Palm Springs and they took us to a little campground, because we were thinking about a little performance in Palm Springs, just a little one,” said Kanye during his weekly Sunday Service in Calabasas. “Then they had a mountain, he had a mountain waiting for us. He had a date waiting for us. Only one date that that mountain would be available—Easter Sunday at Coachella. The confirmation was confirmed last night.”

Kanye’s gospel-inspired service has been taking place weekly at his Calabasas compound featuring a choir and special guests including DMX, Kid Cudi, Charlie Wilson, and 070 Shake.

He was previously in talks to headline Coachella, but dropped out after negotiations broke down over the stage. According to reports, he didn’t want to perform on a traditional 60×40 foot stage, but festival organizer Goldenvoice would not allow the stage to be altered or removed, so they mutually agreed to call off his performance. Ariana Grande was booked in his place.
