Janelle Monae to Headline the 2019 Glastonbury Festival

R&B diva Janelle Monae has been announced as one of the headlining acts at the Glastonbury Festival 2019. The Dirty Computer artist will top the bill on the West Holts stage, organizer Emily Eavis told BBC 6 Music’s, Lauren Laverne.

Monae, who is nominated for several Grammy awards for her latest, critically acclaimed album, including Album of the Year, last played the U.K festival in 2011. Her electrifying performance was voted one of the top 100 performances in the history of the festival.

Monae joins fellow artists Stormzy – who is headlining the Friday night of the festival – and Kylie Minogue (headlining the Legends stage) on this year’s billing.

Regarded as a major event in British culture, Glastonbury Festival is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place near Pilton, Somerset, England. In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theater, circus, cabaret, and other arts. Leading pop and rock artists have headlined, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas. Films and albums recorded at Glastonbury have been released, and the festival receives extensive television and newspaper coverage. Glastonbury is the largest greenfield festival in the world and is now attended by around 175,000 people.
