To celebrate the release of his 10th solo album Everythangs Corrupt, Ice Cube paid a visit to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” on Friday (Dec. 7).

The hip-hop icon spoke about his BIG3 pro basketball league and potentially buying 22 regional sports networks. He also dished on playing Scrooge in Humbug, Netflix’s upcoming reimagining of A Christmas Carol, due next Christmas. “It’s gonna be a little different than what you think,” said Cube, whose holiday tradition is spending money.

“I need to hang credit cards on the mantle instead of stockings,” he joked.

It’s been eight years since his last album, I Am the West, but the 49-year-old entertainer revealed why it took so long. “I don’t like to mix projects,” he said. “I don’t like to do movies and music… I want to give 100 percent to what I’m doing.”

His latest album Everythangs Corrupt was inspired by the current state of politics. “It seems like money, greed, power is involved,” said Cube. “It seems like everything is corrupt. I just wanted to highlight some of the things that I think we should be trying to change and fix because we can’t keep moving down this road.”

He capped off the show by hitting the stage to perform “That New Funkadelic.” Accompanied by The Roots, Cube delivered a lively rendition of the G-funk banger, which was inspired by one of his “favorite artists in the world,” George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic.
