Dubai Officials Deny R. Kelly Was Invited to Perform at Any Events

R. Kelly declared he would seek approval to travel to Dubai for performances from the court before ultimately asking for a delayed decision, however, reports back from the United Arab Emirates state there was never an offer in place for the singer to perform.

Kells was said to have been scheduled for three to five shows in Dubai, which would have him transported to the nation by private jet and to meet with the ruling Al Maktoum family. In court last week, Steven Greenberg, attorney for R. Kelly, asked for a suspension of the request. Now the question is, was there ever an offer at all?

According to NBC 5 Chicago, there was never plans in place for such a meeting or even a performance. The Dubai Media Office shot down the claims in a statement.

“Authorities in Dubai have not received any request for a performance by singer R. Kelly nor are there any venues that have been booked.”

The statement also included R. Kelly “has not been invited by the Dubai royal family for a performance.”

R. Kelly stated he needed to travel to Dubai, UAE, to make money for payment of various expenses including legal fees, child support, and back rent.

Back in February, R. Kelly was arrested for aggravated sexual abuse in a case that marked him with 10 counts of assault against four different women, three who were underage at the time.
