California is not playing about the coronavirus and is issuing a more strict form of social distancing to happen in the United States. Governor Gavin Newsom is ordering California residents to stay indoors closing all non-essential businesses as of midnight Friday.

Executive order N-33-20 will only allow for gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, and banks to be open in an attempt to encourage California’s 40 million residents to stay indoors.

According to reports, more than 900 Californians have been infected with COVID-19 and 19 deaths. As of March 18, the state has had 675 cases of coronavirus and 16 deaths. The state is projecting that more than half of its residents will be infected within two months, according to a Fox news report.

Newsom declared the virus a state of emergency on March 4, but with things seemingly getting worse, the state felt it was necessary to take more aggressive measures to combat the spread.
