Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar are up to something.
Over the weekend, .Paak posted a photo of him and the Compton rapper and captioned it “October 4th.” It’s unclear exactly what they’re dropping, but it seems likely that a collaboration is on the way.
Earlier this year, .Paak collaborated with K-Dot for the Black Panther soundtrack. He teamed up with Ab-Soul and James Blake on “Bloody Waters,” produced by Lamar, Sounwave, and Robin Hannibal.
During a 2016 interview with Complex, .Paak spoke about the likelihood of a collaboration. “After my album Malibu came out, Kendrick called me up and he was just like, ‘Thank you bro, for giving me something to listen to,’” he said. “It felt really good to get that respect from him because he’s one of my favorites. So, you never know, I think there’s light.”
The Kendrick collab may land on .Paak’s upcoming album Oxnard, the long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Malibu. .Paak recently announced that the album was complete and shared a photo of him and executive producer Dr. Dre in the studio.
“ALBUM DONE. Time to bring it back home,” he tweeted.
