6ix9ine Hires JAY-Z Attorney Alex Spiro

6ix9ine is beefing up his legal team.

The “FEFE” rapper has hired attorney Alex Spiro to represent him in his ongoing federal racketeering case. Complex obtained court records that show that Spiro has joined 6ix9ine’s defense team. Spiro has represented high-profile clients in hip-hop and sports including JAY-Z, Bobby Shmurda, Matt Barnes, Thabo Sefolosha, and the late former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

The high-power New York attorney was most recently hired by JAY-Z and Roc Nation to help 21 Savage with his immigration case, which resulted in his release from ICE custody. He is also representing Bobby Shmurda in his conspiracy and weapons possession case.

Additionally, JAY-Z enlisted Spiro to help the family of Dravon Ames, a 22-year-old man who was threatened by a Phoenix police officer.

In February, Tekashi pleaded guilty to nine federal charges including hiring a hitman to kill Chief Keef and distributing drugs. The 23-year-old rapper struck a deal with the feds in an attempt to lighten his sentence. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2020.

The rapper may have to testify later this year against alleged members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. Eight defendants, including Tekashi and his former manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, already pleaded guilty to gun and narcotics charges.
