Tyler Perry Reveals He Doesn’t Have a Writers’ Room

Tyler Perry was flexing his work ethic the other day on Instagram when he revealed that he writes all his own scripts.

“So, I don’t know if you know this, but all shows on television have a writers room,” Perry said in an Instagram and Twitter-shared video showing a stack of scripts. “And, most of the time, there are 10 people or 12 or whatever that write on these television shows. Well, I have no writers room. Nobody writes any of my work. I write it all. Why am I telling you this? I wrote all of these scripts by myself in 2019. Work ethic!”

Many people were inspired by this revelation, while others critiqued it, noting the creative advantages of a writers’ room. Some critics being writers themselves, pointed out that a writer’s room at his historical studio will open doors for creatives.

Tyler Perry’s show on Oprah Winfrey’s Network, Haves and Have Nots is returning for its seventh season Tuesday night. Perry is also gearing up to release a Netflix movie at the end of the month, Fall From Grace, starring Crystal Fox and Phylicia Rashad.
