URL Battle League Releases Full Card For Biggest Event Of The Year Streaming Exclusively on Caffeine

Screen Shot 2022 09 24 at 12.18.19 PM

The Ultimate Rap League (URL) announces its highly-anticipated Summer Madness 12 (SM12) card, bringing together some of the biggest names in battle rap to go head-to-head in this one-night-only event. The sold out event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 3 p.m. EDT / 12 p.m. PDT from the World Night Club in Charlotte, NC and will be broadcasted live on URL’s Caffeine channel. Battles from the event will start to stream exclusively on The Ultimate Rap League’s App soon after their debut.

For over a decade, the Summer Madness series has been the most anticipated card of the year for battle rap fans, pairing artists who have consistently wrecked stages over the last year, and defining themselves as the most requested emcees on the league’s roster.  This year, social broadcasting platform, Caffeine, will bring each battle to audiences around the globe, as fans can tune-in and interact throughout the event.

The featured battles on SM12 are Tsu Surf vs. JC, Tay Roc vs. Swamp, Easy the Block Captain vs. Calicoe, Chess vs. Shotgun Suge, and Danny Myers vs. Fonz.

This year’s event has been heralded as the “Gun Show,” as one of battle rap’s most dangerous crew, Gun Titles, is headlining, further solidifying the URL as the world’s most respected MC battle arena.

Tsu Surf, who has arguably not lost one round in a battle for at least three years, and Tay Roc, the undisputed “Face of URL,” lead the collective of heat-spitters on this night of battles. Chess and Easy the Block Captain, two emcees who had the showing of the night at last year’s SM11, are sure to bring their grit, street talk, and performance to the event, further leaning into the mystique usually associated with the card.

“This year, Summer Madness 12 sold out before we announced the third battle. This affirms one thing, the URL has a level of favor with our fans, where they can trust we will deliver a fire card,” owner and founder, Troy “Smack White” Mitchell stated.

Adding, “And from the feedback we have been getting from our valued supporters, we not only completed the objective, bringing to the culture an amazing event, but we saluted some of the culture’s hardest working emcees like Calicoe (who arguably had the greatest battle in history and also a war waged a Summer Madness stage), Shotgun Suge (who is a contender for battler of the year with a flawless 2022 record), JC (our Ultimate Madness 5 winner), Swamp and Fonz (two of the most formidable emcees on our roster).”

Smack concluded, “The Gun Titles are electrifying, but if they are to dominate these top-notch competitors and fan favorites, they got to come correct. It is going to be a blood bath up there!”

Like every marquee event over the last 12 years, SM12 promises to build on that tradition with our streaming partner.

Smack/URL Becomes First Sporting Franchise To Trend With Two Hashtags In One Night

Screen Shot 2022 07 11 at 1.09.08 PM

On Saturday, July 9, the Ultimate Rap League (URL) made history with N.O.M.E. 12 at Houston’s Bayou Music Center, becoming the first extreme sporting organization to trend on Twitter at #1 during the same night with two separate hashtags.

Pivotal to topping the United States trending charts was the highly anticipated card curated by Troy “Smack” White, co-owner of the premier battle rap league in the world. His goal was to focus on matchups that would combine various tiers of artistry, present to fans a long-awaited grudge match, and culminate the $100,000 Ultimate Madness 5 tournament series with finalists JC and Swamp.

The two hashtags were: #NOME12 and #NOMEXII

#NOMEXII was trending before the event started. Before long, after-show host Smack announced #NOME12 as the URL hashtag, it started to trend in the number one spot within a half-hour into the show. #NOMEXII consistently ranked, landing at the top position an hour later.

Is Lloyd Banks About To Make His URLTV Debut?

ax

Speculation has been building in recent days that legendary New York Rapper Lloyd Banks of G-Unit may potentially make his long-awaited and eagerly anticipated battle rap debut on SMACK/URLTV at an upcoming battle event. Lloyd Banks was recently on IG Live chatting with both K-Shine and DNA of NWX and remarked that he wants to battle Atlanta veteran John John Da Don of Bullpen Battle League.

John John Da Don has since claimed that he is keen for the battle and believes he would beat Lloyd Banks convincingly in what would certainly be a tough test upon Banks’ debut in the modern form of battle rap. With SMACK/URLTV recently forging a very lucrative partnership with innovative live-streaming platform Caffeine via Drake, the timing may be able to finally facilitate such a legendary industry rapper entering today’s battle rap arena. Recent commercially successful mainstream artists who have ventured into the modern era of battle rap include Cassidy, Joe Budden, King Los, Jae Millz, 40 Cal (Dipset), Madchild of Swollen Members, Craig G, Canibus amongst others – will Lloyd Banks be next? Stay tuned.

Battle of The Sexes: Will the Ladies of QOTR Demolish the Kings of URL? #Royalty

Most of you are too young to remember when Billie Jean King battled Bobby Riggs in the epic “Battle of The Sexes” tennis match in 1973. In this historic contest, King beat Riggs in a brutal 6–4, 6–3, 6–3 victory. He was so devastated that he wanted a rematch. King never gave him that satisfaction. He actually admitted that he was embarrassingly ill-prepared to battle her… he underestimated her because she was a girl.

That’s it.

So often men underestimate women when they are put head-to-head in competition. That kinda is what Roxanne Shanté had to deal with when she slayed everyone from QB to Kings County. It is definitely what comes to mind with this card, Royalty.

Queen of The Ring and the Ultimate Rap League have partnered for the first time to bring forth some of the top ladies in battle rap to battle against the top men in the culture.

Starting off the card is Deisel vs. Chetta ad Ms. Murk vs. Casey Jay. The first two single-sex battles at the event will prove to be entertaining. Deisel has a history of slick-talking while Chetta on the flip will take that slick-talk and raise it with a bar or two. This will be sure to war. Another war might be Ms. Murk and Casey Jay who have proven themselves titans in the ring. Murk’s disrespect can get to such a high level that you might turn purple with blush from how easily it falls from her lips. But Casey is ain’t the one for it. Don’t let her pretty face fool you, she can hold her own. That Texas spitfire may be up to the challenge to rock with old girl, Murk.

The next battle on the card will be a two on two with Brooklyn’s Murda Ave. (Cortez and Ms. Fit) vs. The Mafia (Geechi Gotti and Coffee Brown). It will be interesting to see how these two mixed-gendered teams will pan out. Closer than siblings, we can’t wait to see how Ms. Fit and Cortez, Brooklyn Finest, will fair against the West Coast King and Queen, Gotti and Brown.

Who remembers when Tori Doe was the young kid in QOTR that put fear in the hearts of those femcees looking to grab the crown off her Harlem head? This would be the best pairing because Chess now is who Tori was back then. Chess has made a name for himself (with a 2019 unmerciful killing spree), it seems like this might be an easy win for him. But… remember Billie Jean King. Tori, with her unorthodox cadence and illmatic phathom-ization of a mind, could equally match or outdo the CakyLyfe king. Not easily… Chess is a beast… but maybe. This has the potential to be the battle of the night.

O’fficial is battling Rum Nitty. Just let that resonate. One half of the Bardashians and also one of the most vicious rappers in the culture will go up against The Source’s 2017 Unsigned Hype from Arizona, Rum Nitty. This is going to be a barfest and with a slight edge to O with her performance. Wait… let’s backtrack… Nitty has been upping his performance over the last few years… This also has the potential to be the battle of the night.

Rounding off the card might be the 40 B.A.R.R.S. vs. Ms. Hustle battle (hope the rumors are not true).

What can be said? 40 can arguably claim to be the Queen of Queen of the Ring (Team 40 says it all the time). Hustle, in her own right, can claim a title as the First Lady of URL. Hustle will be her aggressive self, with angles for days. 40 will be intricately weaving her bars like a professor. The streets vs. the scholar… This will be such a cat-fight. We will see who wins.

This card is a great way to start the year. A wonderful look for QOTR and a progressive look for its brother league, URL. Royalty will happen next week, Jan. 11, 2020 at The Top in Richmond, VA. If you can get on it, be sure to catch the PPV on www.WatchBattleLive.com.

But wait… not so fast… Royalty has a second day on the card and it is just as fire as the first day.

Arsonal Returns to SMACK Volume 4 To Battle Champion’s COTY, Geechi Gotti

URL has its first major event this year, after a jam-packed 2018, will be the highly anticipated “SMACK Volume 4” card this Saturday, February 9th. The card will consist of six 3-round battles, and only be available on pay per view from www.watchbattlelive.com.

This exclusive small room setting (along with the BANNED series) has proven to be a fan favorite since its welcomed inception in December 2017.  A string of now-classics battles from this series including JC vs. Nu Jerzey Twork, Iron Solomon vs. Rum Nitty, K-Shine vs. Danny Myers, Aye Verb vs. Nu Jerzey Twork and the recent DNA vs. Mickey Factz grudge match has all been birthed out of this series and we know that this card will add to our list.

What makes the Volume cards so fire, is their ability to strip away the gas that is often found in so many big stage battles. With the series predictable top tier matchups and undeniable lyricism, to be invited to perform on a Volume card is a high honor for battlers. Despite which era you have come from, landing a spot on URL’s latest franchise with a formidable opponent opens the doors for fans to see just how dope and explosive an emcee you really are. Nu Jerzey Twork is a great example of this. This upcoming set will be his third performance on a Volume. And while many zone in on the attributes of his superior performance, these smaller rooms and close ranged battles afford the fans the opportunity to dissect his lyrical gift.

He is not the only one with lyrical gifts that promise to blow us away.

This particular card will showcase several URL superstars and best wordsmiths. Rappers like T-Top, John John, Shotgun Suge, Rum Nitty, Charlie Clips and sure the sometimes retired, always hustling Arsonal Da Rebel (who has definitely showed up against Twork at SM8), are sure to not only talk that talk but entertain.

Arsonal, who has his own league and who has been creeping into TV, is battling Champion‘s COTY, Geechi Gotti. Champion is the premiere battle analysis show in the culture (second to none). Gotti has been putting up numbers and taking wins. Though he did not take T-Top last year at the Strike 2.5 event, nor come in #1 on our Best of The Culture: Top 20 Battle Rappers And Top Events of 2018, he has proven to be someone Arsonal simply can’t sleep on.

The SMACK Volumes are really some of the best shows in battle rap.

The battles announced for SMACK Volume 4 are;

John John Da Don vs. O-Red

Shotgun Suge vs. Rum Nitty

Arsonal vs. Geechi Gotti

T-Top vs. Qleen Paper

Charlie Clips vs. Nu Jerzey Twork

Chef Trez vs. Danny Myers – (left from the Summer Madness 7 card in Las Vegas).

Check out co-owner, Eric Beasley talking about the card.

Aye Verb Continues To Fight For A Place of Mt. Rushmore; Battles Icon Lux in 2019

Harlem battle rap legend Loaded Lux is set to make his long-awaited return to SMACK / URL next year, with a NOME 9 appearance battling against St Louis’ Aye Verb in Houston, Texas.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest battle rappers of all-time, news of the return of Loaded Lux to the world’s biggest battle rap stage in URL has sent battle rap fans in a frenzy and looks to set up 2019 as the biggest year for battle rap yet. Facing a formidable opponent in Aye Verb (who most recently took it all the way and then some with Murda Mook on RBE earlier this year), this is the battle that fans have been requesting ever since then. The announcement yesterday on Christmas Day was the greatest present that owner Beasley could have gifted fans.

This is just one more battle that URL has lined up, that has fans trembling with joy. The other announced battle that is on deck is Goodz vs. Cassidy. Goodz is one of the most formidable emcees in the culture and Cassidy… well everyone knows about the Philly vet.

Coming up battling for years off-camera throughout New York before making his on-camera debut, Loaded Lux has previously battled in the SMACK/URL DVD era against Midwest Miles (aka Young Miles in 2006), and most famously against Murda Mook over eight rounds back in November 2003 in the Bronx. Lux then went on to battle half a dozen times on the now defunct 106 & Park on BET in 2009. In the most modern era post-SMACK DVD on URLTV, Lux headlined Summer Madness 2 vs. a young Calicoe in a classic and battled a very tough Charlie Clips on a heated Summer Madness 5 three years later in 2015. Lux has also had a classic vs. Hollow Da Don on UW (2014), rematched with Murda Mook on Eminem’s Total Slaughter in 2014 before most recently battling Arsonal Da Rebel on UW mid last year for Arsonal’s then supposed retirement battle.

Verb will be no easy opponent by any stretch of the imagination for Lux. The experienced Verb has had near 50 battles on camera over the last decade since the Grind Time era on multiple platforms. He has stood on that stage and like Lux also faced off against Charlie Clips, Hollow Da Don, Arsonal, T-Rex, Midwest Miles (twice) and of course most recently with Murda Mook in a performance which really made its own case for him to now face Lux. Aye Verb’s complete battle resume is one of the most impressive overall, having also battled the likes of K-Shine, Math Hoffa, O-Red, Pat Stay, Hitman Holla, Dizaster, Tsu Surf, Cortez, Goodz amongst dozens of others.

This battle has been long in the making for seven-plus years already, and Verb’s recent strong showing vs. Mook coupled with strong fan support for this battle to go down now means the time is now finally right for Lux to greenlight it. The battle means a lot to both, a Lux win will really see him cement his place at the top end of battle rap table while a win for Aye Verb would really rattle the battle rap Mount Rushmore. Stay tuned to The Source for news as the lead-up to this monumental battle.
