Chicago Prosecutor Drops Sexual Abuse Charges Against R. Kelly

R. Kelly's Lawyer Doesn't Deny Client Had 'Sexual Contact' With Aaliyah

A Chicago prosecutor in the state’s case against R. Kelly announced that her office would be dropping the sex abuse charges against the disgraced R&B singer.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx made the announcement the day before a hearing relating to sex abuse charges Kelly was facing regarding four women, three of which were minors. Foxx said she would ask the judge to drop the charges on Tuesday, Jan 31.

In 2019, Foxx asked Kelly’s victims to come forward and admitted that the recent revelation “may be disappointing” to those who came forward against Kelly.

“Mr. Kelly is potentially looking at the possibility of never walking out of prison again for the crimes that he’s committed,” Foxx said, referring to his other federal convictions. “While today’s cases are no longer being pursued, we believe justice has been served.”

Kelly was indicted on four counts of sexual abuse in Cook County, IL in 2019, and is currently serving out his 30-year sentence in New York after being convicted of multiple charges including child pornography, enticement, racketeering, and sex trafficking.

As for why the charges were dropped, Foxx said that cost is the main reason.

“We didn’t do a monetary cost-benefit analysis,” Foxx said. She added that the money that they spent on the trial could have also been used for “advocacy for other survivors of sexual abuse.”

However, some of Kelly’s victims are not happy with the decision to drop the charges. Lanita Carter, who says that she was assaulted by Kelly in February of 2003, said that she was “extremely disappointed” by the news.

“I have spent nearly 20 years hoping that my abuser would be brought to justice for what he did to me. With today’s announcement, all hope of justice for my case is gone.” She added, “justice has been denied for me.”

R. Kelly Releases ‘I Admit It’ Album While Locked Up For Federal Sex Crimes

Screen Shot 2022 12 09 at 3.18.48 PM

One of the biggest albums of the year was just released as disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly and the content of the album leans towards a lot of the allegations that Kelly is currently fighting in federal court.

The 13-track album isn’t even an official album, but with its seductive title, I Admit It, many of his fans and critics want to hear about Kelly’s dark past as well as investigate to see if there are any more clues as to whether or not he’s guilty of the crimes he’s currently on trial for.

There is a three-part series on the album called “I Admit it (I Did It)”, which hit SoundCloud four years ago, but just made its way to Apple Music and Spotify this time around. R. Kelly confronts the allegations head on as the tracks play, saying, “They’re brainwashed, really? Kidnapped, really? Can’t eat, really? Real talk, that s*** sound silly.”

Kelly even goes as far as saying one of the parents of his alleged victims introduced them, singing, “And if you really, really wanna know. Her father dropped her off at my show. And told this boy to put her on the stage. I admit that she was overage.”

An update has now reported that Spotify and Apple Music have both pulled the album from their platforms, with Spotify reinforcing their 2018 prohibition of Kelly’s music when the sex cult allegations originally surfaced.

R. Kelly Alleged Victim From ’08 Case Will Testify In New Child Pornography Trial

R. Kelly Reportedly Denied Conjugal Visits With Both Girlfriends

 R. Kelly, 55  is facing another trial on Monday, this time in his hometown of Chicago.  The disgraced singer, who’s already been convicted of sex crimes in New York, faces similar charges in Illinois.

Robert Kelly is charged with 13 counts that include creating and receiving child pornography, enticing minors into illegal sexual activity and obstruction of justice.

Five accusers will testify in court, including the woman who claimed Kelly urinated on her on tape at the age of 14.

Although her case was acquitted in 2008, largely due to her refusal to testify, the woman has agreed to finally speak out about her experience 14 years later.  Prosecutors claim Kelly abused her hundreds of times between 1998 and 2000, where she was as young as 13 years old.

Federal prosecutors in Kelly’s New York case were able to prove that the R&B singer led a criminal enterprise that sought to lure women, boys and girls to him for his own sexual gratification.

R. Kelly’s Sisters Claim That 30 Year Sentence For Sex Abuse Were Due To Racism

R. Kelly's Lawyer Doesn't Deny Client Had 'Sexual Contact' With Aaliyah

In a new interview with Good Morning Britain, R. Kelly’s 3 sisters, Cassandra, Theresa, and Lisa Kelly, came out in support of the convicted R&B singer. In their interview, they maintain that their brother’s 30 year sentence is due to racism in the justice system.

“African Americans have always been treated unfairly,” Cassandra said. “So I think that, that has a lot to do with it as well as other factors.”

The sisters were then asked if their brother had ever been with underage girls. Lisa Kelly responded saying that she wont acknowledge the victims of Kelly’s crimes, and added that he never abused any underage girls.

“I can say he may have been with younger women but as far as underage girls, no. And I stress girls—underage girls, who has seen that?”

She continued, saying that R. Kelly is the victim in this situation and was lied on and taken advantage of. “I’m not gonna acknowledge something that I don’t have the proof of. If there is a victim, I’ll acknowledge. But from what I’ve seen in court and from what I’ve studied and from what I’ve read the only victim I see that’s been stolen from, lied on is Robert. No one is talking about the money that was being extorted from Robert. No one is talking about what was stolen from him…he’s not a monster, he’s not a pedophile, he was just taken advantage of.”

This interview comes shortly after Kelly was moved from prison in New York to one in Chicago where he will be tried for four counts of child pornography, five counts of child sex trafficking, three counts of receipt of child pornography, and one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States.
