Following a string of sold-out shows in North America and upcoming dates with SZA in Europe, Kendrick Lamar is bringing his Grand National Tour to Latin America. The pgLang and…
Cash App has launched the latest phase of its financial literacy brand campaign “That’s Money” in collaboration with project3, pgLang’s in-house creative agency. The new video, titled “The Barbershop,” stars rapper and singer Doechii alongside comedian ExavierTV and is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Calmatic.
“The Barbershop” emphasizes the importance of strategic self-investment and the sharing of financial lessons learned along the way. “I’m at a place now where I’m starting to make a budget and set financial goals for my future,” said Doechii. “I think it’s so important to be honest with each other when we talk about money, which is why I’m excited to be part of this campaign and share what’s been working for me.”
Calmatic expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “What I loved most about this project was the opportunity to essentially describe to the audience what ‘interest’ is in one of the most raw and straightforward ways I’ve ever seen in financial advertising. I wish I could’ve seen something like this when I was growing up. Thank you, project3 and Cash App, for trusting me.”
Launched in 2022, “That’s Money” aims to promote financial education and empowerment while highlighting how Cash App can streamline money management. A previous spot from the campaign, “The Balcony,” featured 17-time Grammy Award winner Kendrick Lamar and entrepreneur Ray Dalio, and won two Bronze Lions at the 2023 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. ExavierTV, who appeared in “The Balcony,” continues the narrative in “The Barbershop,” sharing the financial wisdom he gained from opening his own barbershop.
“Project3, the agency developed by pgLang, collaborated with Cash App to continue the storytelling that began in 2022 with ‘The Balcony,’” stated pgLang. “Appreciation to Calmatic for reapproaching this story with young entrepreneurs growing their businesses in an authentic tone.”
Catherine Ferdon, Cash App’s Chief Marketing Officer, added, “We wanted to show how financial wisdom can spread within communities through real, everyday conversations. With ‘That’s Money,’ we’re continuing to combine culture with financial literacy in a way that’s unique to our brand and makes people think about money differently.”
“The Barbershop” will be available across various formats, including digital video, Out of Home, and cinema, as well as on Cash App’s social channels. Another installment of “That’s Money” is slated to launch later this year.

A double album that also includes Baby Keem and Tanna Leone, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers features Kodak Black, Sampha, Blxst, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah, Beth Gibbons, Sam Dew and actress Taylour Paige (“Zola”). Kendrick Lamar shares the official cover art to the highly-anticipated new album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers which drops this Friday (May 13) everywhere via Interscope/Aftermath/Top Dawg/pgLang.
The cover features a throne-crowned wearing Kung Fu Kenny with his family and a gun in his back waist-band, holding his oldest child, while his wife, Whitney Alford, sits on the bed, holding their infant child with the impression of breastfeeding. The cover arrives several days after Lamar released the upcoming album’s single “The Heart Part 5” which has received huge attention due to the visual’s homage to the likes of O.J. Simpson, Kanye West, Jessie Smollett, Will Smith, and the late-Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle.
Kendrick’s latest visual, released last Sunday evening (May 9), samples the 1976 Marvin Gaye–classic “I Want You” and has already accumulated over 17 million views-and-growing on YouTube in two days. The song and video have received praise from all over pop culture and entertainment. “The Heart Part 5” is set to appear on Kendrick’s forthcoming fifth studio album — his first album release in five years.
In August 2021, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was revealed as Kendrick’s “final” album with his original recording home, Top Dawg Entertainment. “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” Lamar shared in a message on his oklama website at the time. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood.” He released his debut album under Top Dawg in 2012 with Good Kid M.A.A.D. City — and with the label Kendrick earned a Pultizer Prize in 2018 for his 2017 album, DAMN.
Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers drops Friday on all digital streaming platforms.
While fans patiently await the nextKendrick Lamar album, it was revealed on Friday (Jan 14.) that the Pultizer Prize-winning recording artist will be producing his first film in 2022. Under his pgLang imprint, Lamar will be working alongside partner and manager Dave Free and the creators of South Park Matt Stone and Trey Parker on a live-action comedy film by Paramount Pictures.
Lamar and pgLang partner Dave Free will produce the project alongside Stone and Parker. Paramount will handle theatrical distribution, home entertainment, and TV licensing rights on the project, with Paramount Plus acquiring streaming rights. https://t.co/KqumxT8geLpic.twitter.com/sC1mkIqzQk
Written by Vernon Chatman, the film’s concept is about a young black man who is a slave reenactor at a living history museum and discovers that his girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his own ancestors as slaves. “On behalf of Paramount Pictures and the wider ViacomCBS family, we look forward to ushering in the first theatrical collaboration from these creative visionaries, and galvanizing audiences worldwide around a powerful storytelling experience,” Paramount Pictures president and CEO Brian Robbins says about the project.
Paramount will handle theatrical distribution, home entertainment, and TV licensing rights on the project, with Paramount Plus acquiring streaming rights. While Lamar and Free’s first film, South Park’s Stone and Parker bring five-time Emmy-winning experience. The duo recently inked a new deal with MTV that sees South Park air through to season 30. South Park is currently on season 25.
In 2021, Kendrick Lamar returns to music with the appearances on tracks “family ties” and “rover brothers” on his new artist and cousin Baby Keem’s debut album, the melodic blue. Last year, K. Dot revealed his next album will be his last on TDE. No official release date for the upcoming comedy film.
Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free have announced the launch of a new company pgLang “a new multi-lingual, at service company.”
The company was created in order to “service to creators and projects that selflessly speak with, and for, the shared experiences that connect us all.”
“In this overstimulated time, we are focused on cultivating raw expression from grassroots partnerships,” Free said in a statement.
We haven’t heard much from Lamar lately, which continues with this launch whose statement was simply: “Selfless. Reset.”
Included in the “visual mission statement” along with Lamar is Baby Keem, Jorja Smith, Kendrick Lamar, and Yara Shahidi.
You can catch the initial social media announcement below and can catch the full vision statement on the website.
