Kevin Samuel’s sudden death earlier this year was met with mixed reactions as some paid their respects to the controversial influencer while others celebrated his death. On the Joe Budden Podcast, Joe, Ice and Ish paid their respects to Samuels who actually guest starred on the podcast early last year.
Following his death, many social media outlets started to repost clips from Samuels’ IG lives, interviews, and YouTube content. No Jumper, a popular hip-hop media outlet based out of Los Angeles and run by Adam 22, started to upload clips of Samuels’ old content. Adam 22 recently guest starred on the Joe Budden Podcast where he was scolded by Budden for re-uploading Samuels’ content after his death.
While on the episode, Budden brought up the late men’s influencer, and Adam22 responded, “Rest in peace.” Budden then told the No Jumper host “i don’t like what you did after he died.”
Budden went on to call Adam22’s actions “disgusting” and the “nastiest performance I’ve ever seen.” Adam22 defended his postition saying that when someone dies, there’s a huge demand for that person’s content on social media.
What is your job as a content creator? Your job is to make content and get that content out to the people that want to see it,” Adam said. “Somebody dies, there’s a huge demand for that content, you re-upload it, people see it on their subscription feed, they click on it because this is a very talked-about thing,” Adam22 added.
Ish then asked Adam22 if the content he posted about Samuels was in a negative light. Joe jumped in and said “He didn’t slander his name, he just re-uploaded everything on Kevin Samuels in the moment that he died.” Adam22 then admitted to uploading content of Samuels as soon as his passing was confirmed.

According to the Atlanta Police Department Incident Report, on Thursday morning emergency medical teams found Kelvin Samuels unresponsive on the floor of his apartment, where they performed C.P.R. on him.
32-year-old Ms. A (name withheld for privacy), identified herself and said she’d met Samuels the prior night, “came to his apartment, and spent the night with him.”
Ms. A told police that early in the morning Samuels, began to complain of chest pain, “she attempted to help him but he fell on top of her and she proceeded to notify 9-1-1.”
She also revealed that she asked the 9-1-1 operator to contact the front desk of Samuels’ apartment building for a defibrillator to keep him “responsive until Grady arrives because she is a nurse.” Samuels was taken to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
His mother Beverly Samuels-Burch confirmed her son’s death this morning to NBC News, sharing that she learned the shocking news from social media. “That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out,” she said. “I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified. All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.”
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet revealed a cause of death. Our condolences to Kevin Samuels‘ loved ones at this difficult time.
Though it has yet to be confirmed by his family, it has been widely reported that self-proclaimed relationship guru and image consultant Kevin Samuels has died. He was 56 years old.
Several reports revealed that Melanie King, a friend of Samuels, said she received “family confirmation” that the creator of Modern Women was dead. King, described as his female counterpart, says, “This is 100%.”
Albeit no one from Samuel’s family or reps from his team has confirmed or posted any statement, the unconfirmed reports have stated that Samuels passed away from a heart attack. The Instagram account for Plug Talk claimed Samuels died from “cardiac arrest,” but the post offered no verification. Other Instagram accounts have touted that same narrative but have no confirmation.
Samuels took social media by storm, unapologetically handing out lifestyle and relationship advice through his Youtube channel. Known for what is viewed as misogynistic and insulting commentary about Black women, many people strongly disagreed with his opinion, while others, including some women, followed Samuels and his unconventional advice faithfully. His channel, which has 1.42million subscribers, features videos such as ‘”modern women are average at best” and “women should let men use them.”
Samuels’ controversy is unparalleled. In a recent episode of his podcast just last month, Samuels said, “If you have made it to 35 and you are unmarried, you are a leftover woman, You are what is left. Men know that there is likely something wrong with you. Whether you want to hear it or not, I’m going to go there with you. I’m telling you the truth that you don’t want to hear. Men know that there is likely something wrong with you—that you can not be an adjustable six or higher—something is wrong with you. That’s where men automatically come with it. And here’s the thing—when you were between the ages of 22 and 25, and you didn’t want to settle—you were trying to get the CEO, the pilot, the investment banker, you were trying to get flewed out…”
