Florida County Commissioner Says What About Kodak Black

Florida County Commissioner Says What About Kodak Black

Florida County Commissioner apologizes for Kodak Black Day controversy.

One Broward County, Florida Commissioner is now apologizing for saying June 11th shouldn’t be declared “Kodak Black Day.” Commissioner Mark Bogen says he didn’t realize the “First Day Out” rapper has also made so many charitable contributions when he said he didn’t deserve the honor based on his criminal record.

Dale Holness, another Broward County Commissioner had presented Black with the proclamation announcing June 11th as Kodak Black Day. The now 24 year old rapper received his commencement on June 10th at a charity basketball game in Coral Springs. The honor is typically given to civil servants, social and business leaders who make a difference in the community.

Holness said the proclamation was in support of Black’s philanthropic efforts. He added that he believes in redemption and that the rapper’s criminal troubles shouldn’t outweigh the good. “I believe in redemption,” Holness said. “I believe every human being has the ability to redeem themselves from whatever wrong they’ve done.”

Kodak Black’s four-year sentence was commuted in January on a federal firearm charge. Three months later he was placed on probation after pleading guilty to assaulting a teenage girl. But he’s also paying the college tuitions for the children of two FBI agents killed in a Sunrise raid, covering funeral costs of a South Carolina police officer and donating 100-thousand-dollars to Nova Southeastern University.

A witness to the shooting said that the meleé started when a Black BMW started shooting at a tan car. The car attempted to dodge the gunfire from the BMW until the occupants of the tan car began to return fire, causing the BMW to drive off from the scene recklessly.

The witness to the shooting took three of the occupants from the tan vehicle to the hospital, with one of those hit by flying bullets being Syko Bob.

Earlier this month, Black himself was the target in a shooting at a McDonald’s in Tallahassee.
