The character who gave us classic insults as “rhinoceros pizzle” and “sweat from a baboons balls” will be coming back. Deadline reports Arsenio Hall’s character Semmi will be in Coming To America 2.

In what should have been a no-brainer from the start, Hall is officially on board and will be joining Murphy on his latest adventure in the Craig Brewer-directed film. He will reprise his role as Semmi, the trusted aide and terrible advisor to Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy). In the movie, Akeem learns he has a long lost son and must return to America to meet the possible heir to his throne.

Eddie Murphy Is Coming Back To America Just In Time

Nearly two years ago, it was revealed that Eddie Murphy was working on a sequel script to one of his most beloved films, Coming To America. The original 1988 John Landis-directed movie was based on a story by Murphy. He starred in the film as “Prince Akeem” alongside a talented cast that included Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, John Amos, James Earl Jones, and a plethora of would-be stars.

The likelihood of Coming To America 2 reaching theaters has now escalated. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has named Craig Brewer as the film’s director. More importantly, Murphy will reprise one of the most memorable roles of his film career. The report adds that Paramount hopes to secure Hall, Headley, Amos, and Jones, among others. Deadline also confirms the Coming To America 2 plot. “In the sequel, ‘Akeem’ learns about a long lost son, and must return to America to meet his unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.”

“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming To America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement published at Deadline. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”
