Former Death Row Records boss Marion “Suge” Knight is expected to spend nearly 30 years behind bars. The jailed hip-hop mogul has pleaded no contest to manslaughter dating back to his 2015 hit-and-run murder case.

According to reports, Knight appeared in court today (September 20) and pleaded no contest.

Former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight pleaded no contest Thursday to manslaughter in connection with the death of a man during a hit-and-run incident after a confrontation on the set of the movie biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Knight, 53, is scheduled to be sentenced October 4 and in exchange for his plea, prosecutors are calling for a sentence of 28 years in prison. Yesterday, Suge’s legal muscle reportedly reached out about making a deal.

Knight’s attorney, Al DeBlanc, first contacted the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office about a possible plea deal Wednesday, according to Lillian Carter, the victim’s wife. Negotiations stretched into early Thursday afternoon, with Knight at one point fighting against the idea of having to take the plea in the presence of media lining the courtroom, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. The source requested anonymity to discuss the case candidly. (Los Angeles Times)

Last spring, Knight’s son Suge J. Knight updated fans on his condition following a medical complication.

The same week, reports revealed Suge had remained hospitalized for at least two days.

Suge was moved from L.A. County jail on Tuesday, around 11 AM, and was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital. It’s unclear why Suge — who’s in jail awaiting trial for murder — had to be rushed to a hospital for treatment, but he’s had several health issues since he was arrested and locked up in 2015. In 2017, he was treated for blood clots … which have been a recurring issue for him. Suge also passed out during a court hearing. (TMZ)
