R. Kelly Released From Jail After Posting Bail

R. Kelly has been released from a Chicago jail after spending the weekend behind bars on sex abuse charges.

The R&B crooner was seen leaving Cook County Jail on Monday afternoon, wearing the same blue bubble jacket that he wore when he surrendered on Friday. He was surrounded by reporters, but didn’t answer questions, as he exited with his lawyer.

A judge set the Grammy-winning singer’s bond at $1 million, and he was required to pay 10 percent ($100,000) to be released. According to TMZ, he paid the bond with a bank cashier’s check.

During a hearing on Monday, Kelly’s lawyer pleaded not guilty on his behalf to all 10 counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse. Prosecutors allege that he sexually abused four women, including three minors, between 1998 and 2010. Nine of the 10 counts involve alleged victims ranging from 13 to 16 years old.

Attorney Michael Avenatti, who represents two Kelly victims, gave prosecutors a videotape that allegedly shows Kelly having sex with an underage girl. On Monday, Avenatti turned over a second video that allegedly shows Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Kelly has denied the charges and maintained his innocence. “It’s our position at this point that Mr. Kelly has done absolutely nothing wrong,” said his attorney Steve Greenberg. “No one has shown us any evidence that he’s done anything wrong.”

Additionally, Kelly must pay $160,000 in back child support to his ex-wife Drea Kelly by March 6. If he doesn’t, he faces more jail time. Sources tells TMZ that he plans to make the payment immediately, so he can focus on his criminal defense.
