Chali 2na may be most well known for his role as a founding member of critically acclaimed rap group Jurassic 5 and Grammy-award winners Ozomatli, but having mastered skills in painting, graffiti and street art, ballpoint pen art, acting, educating, and more, Chali 2na has become the definition of a modern day renaissance man. To celebrate his music and art project Against The Current, Chali 2na has announced a series of tour dates set to take his collection to cities across the US. The Against The Current project combines a series of genre-blending EPs with a 100-page coffee table book of his original artwork and photography.
Chali 2na explains, “Art is a part of everything I do. It’s been that way as long as I can remember and it certainly is the reason why I discovered my musical talents. That being said, I’ve worked diligently to create a situation where I could tour with my art as I tour with my music. I am so excited to announce that this goal has finally become a reality.”
The “Against The Current” Art Tour kicks off on Friday, October 19 in Los Angeles, CA. This opening night reception will feature a collection of Chali 2na’s artwork and photography, and also serve as the EP Launch Party for the fifth and final installment of his 5-year musical journey, the Against The Current EP collection. The event will take place at Mr. Musichead from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and will feature music from resident DJs and special guest DJs throughout the night including Vanessa Burgundy and Jurassic 5’s Cut Chemist, along with a photo booth, red carpet, cocktails and coffee, live piano, autograph opportunities, and more. This event is free and open to all ages, but RSVP is recommended. The gallery will also be open all day on Saturday, October 20. Mr. Musichead is located at 7420 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90046.
