New York rapper Safaree Samuels had his soon-to-be official in-laws give him the green light before asking for Erica Mena‘s hand in marriage. New reports claim the “Love & Hip Hop” female star’s day ones signed off on the engagement weeks in advance.

According to reports, Safaree made sure to get Mena’s family behind his life-changing decision.

A rep for Safaree, KD McNair, tells TMZ … Safaree made it his mission to first ask Erica’s family for their blessing, reaching out to them weeks before popping the question. Safaree and Erica started dating this year, but their engagement wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment thing … we’ve learned the ‘Love & Hip Hop’ stars first met when Erica was 17. We’re told Erica’s mom and son were 100% down with the proposal … they’ve loved Safaree ever since he starred alongside Erica in VH1’s “Scared Famous.” (TMZ)

According to reports, Safaree dropped nearly $200,000 on the iced-out ring.

A rep for Safaree, KD McNair, tells TMZ … “2019 is the year of new beginnings and it’s safe to say our guy Safaree stepped up and put a ring on it.” We’re told Safaree dropped $175,000 on the engagement ring, which features 14 carats in platinum and was personally designed by Safaree and Trax NYC. R&B group 112 also joined in on the celebration by singing some classics.

Our sources say Safaree surprised his girl with 20,000 rose petals surrounded by 200 candles before popping the question. Safaree pulled out all the stops, because 112 was in the house singing “Cupid” and “Crazy Over You” in front of a full, live band in her living room! (TMZ)
