“Empire” star Malik Yoba is speaking out. The TV veteran has come forward to announce and defend his sexual preference for transsexual women.

Malik went to social media this week to make the big revelation and encourage people to proudly be themselves.

Some reports claim a man’s recent death allegedly over getting bullied for dating a transgender woman sparked Yoba’s decision to come forward.

Beloved New York Undercover actor Malik Yoba has taken to social media to call out toxic masculinity and reveal he’s attracted to transgender women. The 51-year-old actor took to Instagram last week and posted a video of Maurice “Reese” Willoughby, a 20-year-old who was taunted by other men in his Philadelphia neighborhood for his relationship with his transgender girlfriend Faith. Reese soon began trending on Twitter after it was discovered he took his life. (VIBE)

Speculation has since developed on the motivation behind Yoba’s announcement.

Specifically, one woman, Mariah Lopez Ebony, took to Facebook to address Yoba following his public revelation. “For all who applaud and solute [sic] Malik Yoba for revealing he is so called ‘Trans Attracted’, understand that either because of deeper issues he has or, because of ‘society’ pushing him and others to deep, dark places, his admission to being sexually attracted to Trans women, is bound to open a Pandora’s box for him; not because the women are Trans, but because many of the Trans women he engaged in sexual exploration and exploitation with on 14th Street, Times Square and elsewhere, were minors, including myself,” Ebony wrote in a post titled, “Surviving Malik Yoba.” (The Root)

Yoba is gearing up to appear at an upcoming trans event later this month in Washington, DC.

With that in mind, the actor and activist has decided to use his knowledge and experiences to enlighten others as he and hundreds of other allies and members of the trans community march for equality. “September 27, 28, Washington DC, the trans visibility march in DC, I will be there doing my ‘Love and Trauma workshop: The Trans Experience’,” he added. “I invite you all to join.” (BET)
