Ariana Grande Addresses Big Sean, Pete Davidson & Mac Miller W/ Surprise New Song

Ariana Grande

Pop star Ariana Grande isn’t biting her tongue. The crooner has put her personal life on full display with the unexpected release of her new “Thank U, Next” song.

On the new track, Grande addresses late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and former fiancé Pete Davidson.

“Thought I’d end up with Sean/But he wasn’t a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh/Even almost got married/And for Pete I’m so thankful/Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm [Miller]/Cause he was an angel” (“Thank U, Next”)

Hours before it dropped, buzz and speculation developed on Grande’s personal song.

Record label sources tell TMZ, the overarching theme of the song — titled “Thank u, next” — is empowerment … what she’s been through in her relationships and other experiences. We’re told it is not a diss track. Our sources say she specifically names Pete, Mac and others … but she doesn’t go after Pete the way she did earlier this week after he publicly joked about their breakup. She had accused him of being a hypocrite … pretending he wasn’t into being in the spotlight yet hanging on for dear life. (TMZ)

On “Saturday Night Live,” Pete Davidson kept things 100 on the split.

Ninety minutes later on “Saturday Night Live,” Davidson made his own statement during the show’s “Weekend Update” segment, concluding his raucous guest spot by saying, “I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business. Sometimes things just don’t work out and that’s okay. She’s a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now please go vote on Tuesday, alright?” (Variety)

Recently, Pete Davidson addressed their publicized split during a charity event.

Davidson further addressed his breakup, saying, “Well, as you can tell, I don’t want to be here. There’s a lot going on. Anybody have any open rooms? Anybody looking for a roommate? I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun. I’m f*cking 0-for-2 in the tattoo department. Yeah, I’m afraid to get my mom tattooed on me because she’d leave.” (The Hollywood Reporter)
