Aesop Rock Announces Daylight EP Reissue

Aesop Rock has revealed plans for the reissue of his classic 2002 EP, “Daylight,” set to be released on March 29th by Rhymesayers Entertainment in vinyl, cassette, and CD formats. The original EP featured seven tracks, with an additional hidden track, making a total of eight. It showcased production from EL-P, Blockhead, and Aesop Rock himself, alongside a guest verse from Blueprint. Initially, the EP was solely available in CD and digital formats, with the vinyl version limited to a three-song 12” single. However, the upcoming reissue will include all eight tracks on vinyl for the first time, pressed on two-color side A/B effect orange & blue vinyl to complement the original artwork.

First released in 2002, the “Daylight” EP followed Aesop Rock’s critically acclaimed album “Labor Days,” which had been released just six months earlier. The EP centered around its titular opening track, “Daylight,” a standout piece from “Labor Days” that has since become one of Aesop’s most cherished works. It further showcased his multifaceted talents in writing and producing. Alongside the title track, the EP featured “Night Light,” a conceptual alternative version with lyrics that contrasted sharply with those of “Daylight,” set against a darker, more ominous production. To emphasize this dichotomy, a limited vinyl variant named “Night Light” will also be offered, featuring tri-color (blue, silver & black) galaxy effect vinyl, housed in a foil-stamped and numbered jacket. Pre-orders for the reissue, along with exclusive merchandise designs, are currently available on aesoprock.com.
