My mom taught me kindness. Not the kind of kindness you learn about in kindergarten, but specifically the unrelenting kindness that Jesus taught about. If you have met my mother you know she has a heart that could block out the whole sun, its so big. I learned the spirit of giving from my mother. She often asks me if I’m happy. And I always hesitate because I know she’s really asking if I’m at peace. Not the kind of peace you get from getting everything you want, or even the kind of peace that comes from the lack of disturbances and tribulation. She means the peace that comes with a relationship and close proximity to the Prince of Peace. And when I remember those things I am my best self. Thank you mom you raised me right.

Woke up this morning with a lot of joy & sadness this morning. Conflicted to say the least because as I think about posting & seeing my own mother, my grandmother & my children’s mothers on this day…. fact is, Nips mother woke up today missing one of her babies…. Lauren woke up without her husband & the father of her son… & Sam without one of her brothers…. so I made the conscious decision to give these 3 women the love & light before I start my day & follow it with the appreciation of all the mothers in my life. My heart & prayers are with you today as you’ve all shown great strength in the past weeks. I hope you can find peace today as it is a celebration of all that you are. To be a mother is to season the world…. to bring along new life & contribute to the continuance of mankind. It is impossible for one to exist without a mother so understand the true capacity of your greatness & accept the gifts for which you deserve…. especially today. Happy Mother’s Day to the mother of my 1st born. I give you extra praise on this day… 1st because you deserve it & 2nd because you gave birth to the single reason for everything I am. I remember when you told me you were pregnant… you were scared & had no idea of what we were going to do & how we were going to tell your mother…. a woman who took me in after I got shot & showed me the same love she showed her own son. I came up with the bright idea to walk to her room & just tell her.. then I got to the door & got scared lol.. so I hyped myself up with the old “okay, count to 3 & then just say it”. 1…… 2…. 3…. ma…. ok no, count to three again & just say it nigga, you scared ?? (talking to myself) lmaooo… 1… 2… 3.. n while standing on the side of the door peaking my head around the corner I said it… “Mom, Aleska pregnant”… she lifted her head up & said “What you say boy” looking for me, but I put my head back in line with my body so she couldn’t see me & said it again…… she heard me that time & I thought she was gonna get up & bomb to the jaw but instead she closed the door & didn’t speak to either of us for weeks. But we held it down, she got over it & now that baby is 15 years old…. so many memories, so much love instilled in him by you & I wouldn’t change anything about you. You are an amazing mother & today is your day…… Enjoy & don’t let anything steal your sunshine. Love the both of you dearly
