Chris Rock had some fun at Jussie Smollett’s expense.
During the 50th annual NAACP Image Awards Saturday night, the comedian took shots at the “Empire” star, who had all criminal charges against him dropped last week for allegedly staging a hate crime.
“They said no Jussie Smollett jokes,” said Rock while presenting the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. “Yeah, I know… What a waste of light skin. You know what I could do with that light skin? That curly hair, my career would be out of here! I would be f**kin’ running Hollywood.”
The joke was met with laughs from the crowd including Issa Rae and Trevor Noah. “What the hell was he thinking? You are ‘Jessie’ from now on,” added Rock. “You don’t even get the ‘u’ no more. That ‘u’ was respect. You are getting no respect from me.”
But not everyone was laughing. “I stand with Jussie,” said Yara Shahidi, while helping the Outstanding Comedy award alongside her “Black-ish” castmates including Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.
Smollett was not in attendance at Saturday’s show and lost his award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series to “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Jessie Williams. The “Empire” star previously won in that category in 2017 and has attended the last three NAACP Image Awards.
Last week, Chicago prosecutors dropped all charges against Smollett after he was indicted on 16 felony counts for allegedly filing a false police report. He has maintained his innocence and says that he’s been “truthful and consistent on every single level since day one.” The city of Chicago is seeking $130,000 from Smollett to cover the costs of the investigation.

Diving into this 12-track album “The Multiversal Adventures of Whysir: Journey Through The Hallways of Always” by Portland’s Whysir, front to back it represents what true underground / alternative hip hop is all about. Similar to likes like Anti-Con, with a new era type Sage Francis influence, Whysir expresses his views on life’s obstacles with his distinct lyrical style on top of the mixing and production of the album on point complimenting his cadence and delivery.
In today’s Hip Hop scene, it’s kinda hard to find a album that helps you get inside the consciousness of a person and their creativity. It’s definitly not difficult to get inside his mind with songs like “Garbage Water”, “Coconut”, and “Waiting on Paradise”, songs combining spoken word with off the wall lyricism that make your head spin.
Throughout the project Whysir’s takes you on his adventure with simple yet consistent rhyme patterns. Not the best rapper alive, but he does have his own persona and style that you can respect from a independent rapper. Refreshing to hear something different.
I give “The Multiversal Adventures of Whysir: Journey Through The Hallways of Always” a deserving 7/10, with some gained anticipation of what’s nest to come out of Portland.

Lil Uzi Vert wants out. The Philadelphia rapper and self-described rock stars isn’t happy with the current terms of his recording contract with Generation Now.
Reports TMZ:
A source familiar with his current deal tells TMZ … the rapper’s being exploited because the contract allows little room for growth and doesn’t do enough for his bottom line.
We’re told Generation Now is supposed to cover Lil Uzi’s studio time and recordings, but the label’s refusing to pony up — so he’s being forced to seek financial assistance from people close to him. Sounds like an awkward conversation.
…
Lil Uzi’s serious about getting out from under his contract … we’re told his side proposed an amended deal, one that’s more fair and balanced for the artist. As you might expect, the label is pushing back.
However, another source tells us Generation Now isn’t holding up the release of Uzi’s upcoming album, “Eternal Atake,” and they’re definitely NOT exploiting him — they claim he’s been in full control of the project from the jump.
As the label sees it … Uzi has a production budget for the album and he’s been recording in Philadelphia for a while, but hasn’t shared any of his work — making it difficult for the label to set release dates, or figure out marketing and promotion plans.
The drama (no pun, you’ll see why) is prickly for Hip-Hop heads because Generation Now was founded by Don Cannon and DJ Drama. The renowned DJ’s and producers did plenty for the culture as the Aphilliates.
Word is both sides are still willing to communicate, but it’s a slow roll at the moment.

New York rapper 50 Cent isn’t letting his foot off Wendy Williams‘ neck. The hip-hop star has returned to social media to flame his arch rival.
Curtis Jackson hit up Instagram Sunday with some below the belt shade aimed at Wendy’s appearance.
When will the trolling end tho???? lol @50cent @WendyWilliams #SOHHNews pic.twitter.com/4DqiA5t8mB

Earlier in the week, 50 ripped Wendy over an alleged drug addiction.

This week, reports emerged about Wendy’s husband allegedly becoming a father to a mistress’ baby.
As Page Six previously reported, Kevin Hunter’s alleged mistress, Sharina Hudson, welcomed a baby on Monday while Williams remains in a sober living facility to treat her addiction issues. There is widespread speculation that Hunter, who has been married to Williams since 1997, is the child’s father. On Monday afternoon, Williams was found drunk and treated with IV fluids. (Page Six)

At this point, it’s simply understood that 50 Cent is an incorrigible troll. The Queens rapper took to Instagram to call Wendy Williams a crackhead.
If you thought Williams falling off the wagon after her husband’s alleged mistress gave birth to his daughter would deter 50 Cent, you would have lost that bet.
“
I knew some thing was up with this bitch,
it was the drugs. She better not talk about me, then go to the rehab every day Crack Head.
get the strap #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac,” wrote Fif as a caption of a meme that features a less than glamorous photo of Williams on Saturday (March 30).
