Following the conviction of six men in the murder of FBG Duck, his mother hit Instagram Live and delivered a message.

“I wanna see y’all tonight at my house,” she said. “We popping bottles, we celebrating. We havin’ a ‘justice served’ party for Duck tonight.”

A federal jury in Chicago has convicted six men from O-Block for the murder of FBG Duck in the Gold Coast shopping area of the city.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the deliberation lasted two full days, wrapping a trial over three months. Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was killed in front of a store on Aug. 4, 2020. His girlfriend and another shopper were injured in the shooting.

Federal investigators tied the murder to a gang war between Duck’s Tookaville faction of the Gangster Disciples and the O Block set of the Black Disciples, including diss songs between Duck and the late King Von. Investigators believe Von placed a bounty on Duck.

Court docs revealed O Block members planned out shootings and a drug operation in regular meetings. Duck’s murder was to increase their reputation.

Convicted was Charles “C Murda” Liggins, an alleged shooter, on five of seven counts and Kenneth “Kenny Mac” Roberson, an alleged getaway driver, guilty under the same counts. Tacarlos “Los” Offerd, another alleged getaway driver, was found guilty of five counts. Christopher “C Thang” Thomas, another alleged shooter, was found guilty of three counts: murder, using a gun in the murder and conspiracy to commit the murder. Ralph “Teezy” Turpin, who tipped off the shooting, was found guilty of murder and conspriacy to commit murder. Marcus “Muwop” Smart, 24, another alleged gunman, was found guilty of five counts.

Another alleged gunman, Ezell Rawls, committed suicide during the investigation.

Two cars in the shooting were tracked to the shooting scene using surveillance cameras.

Five O-Block Members Charged in RICO That Includes the Murder of FBG Duck

FBG Duck 945x598 1

Federal authorities arrived in Chicago’s Parkway Gardens homes, known to Hip-Hop fans as O-Block, on Wednesday morning and charged five alleged gang members. They were charged in a racketeering conspiracy that tracked a pattern of violence, which includes the summer 2020 murder of FBG Duck.

FBG Duck was shot and killed today in the Gold Coast area of downtown Chicago, a section of the city that is known for its high-end stores, restaurants, and hotels. The brazen murder was discussed heavily due to both the nature of the killing, it occurring in the middle of the day, the location, and Duck’s status.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was standing in line outside of a clothing store when two cars pulled up in front of a crowd of people and opened fire. FBG Duck was a member of a Gangster Disciples faction that was feuding with the Black Disciples on the South Side.

The indictment that was dropped on Wednesday state the arrested are all members of the O-Block gang, which previously claimed ownership of acts of violence and increased their criminal enterprise by using social media and music.

“This is a significant charge,” Chicago’s U.S. Attorney John Lausch said, adding, “we’re doing something good.”

Of those charged were Charles Liggins, also known as “C Murda,” Kenneth Roberson, Christopher Thomas, Tacarlos Offerd, and Marcus Smart. Their charges include murder in aid of racketeering and firearm offenses. They each face a mandatory minimum of life in prison if convicted, prosecutors can also push for the death penalty. Four of the men were arrested on Wednesday, Roberson was already in custody, believed to be the shooter in a separate event.

Also at the scene of the shooting was Duck’s girlfriend, who was injured while waiting in a parked car and a 36-year-old man whow as hit in the back and leg. There were two additional victims.

Chicago Police Wants King Von Mural Removed from O Block

E8XB9fVWEAIvn1p

King Von was immortalized in a mural on O Block in Chicago. Created by Delilah Martinez and her Mural Movement organization, the image sits right across from where Von grew up and was recently visited by Lil Durk.

The mural was dedicated to King Von’s children, family, community, friends and fans, but Delilah revealed the Chicago Police Department and the city of Chicago are not in favor of the mural.

“We might have to take down that King Von mural,” Delilah said.. “And I’m gon’ tell y’all why it really actually bothers me. So, if you guys know my story or know the Mural Movement and how we got started, y’all know how important it is to do specific things like art in specific areas, especially Black and Brown communities. So, that’s how the Mural Movement started. We’re all about representation, beautifying communities in need, especially underserved communities that don’t have art or murals.”

Chicago’s O-Block Projects Reportedly Sold Despite Lil Durk’s Buying Interest

Screen Shot 2021 04 30 at 10.00.41 AM

Lil Durk was a little too late. Parkway Garden a.k.a. “O-Block” was recently put up for sale. The Chicago projects gained notoriety in Hip-Hop after many Chicago rappers including Chief Keef, Lil Reese, the late King Von, the late Fredo Santana, and Lil Durk begin to claim it. Last week, when it was reported that the apartment complex was up for sale, Durk expressed his interest in buying it. He did not care for the cost either.

While the price nor the buyer has been revealed, the apartment complex was sold before a bid could be made. According to Saycheese TV, O-Block is likely to fall to the gentrification model. It is going to be redeveloped and highly overpriced for current residents.

It will be interesting to see Durk’s response following his interest. With his dedication to Chicago, it is likely we will see Durk’s ownership portfolio grown within his hometown for years to come. It is only a matter of time.
