JAY-Z spoke for his wife Beyoncé during the Grammys, questioning how is she the most awarded artist of all-time with no Album of the Year trophy. According to Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, it is the fault of her former label.
Speaking with TMZ, Knowles stated the blame may not fall all on the Recording Academy.
“People don’t know the process. Your record label can only appoint one person in a category. So that means her record label, Columbia Records, her record label has never really put her in that category for consideration,” said Knowles.

Mathew Knowles went through breast cancer surgery over the Summer and he opened up about it for the first time on Good Morning America Wednesday morning.
Knowles appeared on a pre-recorded episode with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America and gave the world an update on his current health. “I’m doing really good, Michael. I had my surgery the last week of July, and now I’m doing all the steps for recovery.”
Strahan also revealed that his own brother was diagnosed with breast cancer and got it treated in 2015.
Thankfully the diagnosis was caught early and the first thing he did was phone his family so they can take steps to prevent them from getting diagnosed. He is a carrier of the BRCA 2 gene mutation, in English words, he has a higher risk for developing breast cancer.
“That was the very first call because this is genetics,” he explained. “It also means that my kids have a higher chance, a higher risk. Even my grandkids have a higher risk. They handled it like they should — they went on and got the [BRCA mutation] test.”
Mathew Knowles has since cut out alcohol and focuses on being active and meditation. “I just wanted to have a clean bill of health,” he said.

According to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, the disease, which primarily targets women, is rare in men but the numbers have climbed in recent times. Beyoncé‘s father Mathew Knowles revealed that he is combating the disease in a new interview that aired Wednesday morning (October 2).
Knowles sat down with Michael Strahan of Good Morning America to share details of his breast cancer diagnosis, and his desire to raise awareness of the disease among men.
From ABC News:
For context, in 1980 I worked in the medical division of Xerox. I worked there for eight years, selling Xeroradiography, which was at that point the leading modality for breast cancer.
By being in that position, I had to learn, because I sold to radiologists, all of the modality technology terminology. Then I worked with Philips, selling MRI/CT scanners. I just want to give some context to why it got my attention, more so than others.
I knew this: Back then, it was 1 in 10 women would get breast cancer, now it’s 1 in 8 because we have more research and more data.
Also, my mother’s sister died of breast cancer, my mother’s sister’s two and only daughters died of breast cancer and my sister-in-law died in March of breast cancer with three kids – a 9-, 11- and a 15-year-old — and my mother-in-law had breast cancer. So breast cancer has been all around me. My wife’s mother has breast cancer, too.

Mathew Knowles might be best known as Beyoncé’s father and his forays into the music business, but he’s proving himself to be ahead of the curve in a new booming venture. Knowles has signed on as the chief marking officer of a company that leases land for marijuana farms and dispensaries.
Page Six writes:
Page Six has exclusively learned that he has signed on as chief marketing officer of Bangi Inc., a company that buys and leases real estate for weed farms and dispensaries.
Knowles — who famously managed Bey, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as Destiny’s Child, plus launched their solo careers and that of younger daughter Solange — told us he’ll be “leveraging my extensive network” to boost the company.
He told us that while he does partake in marijuana himself for “medicinal reasons,” Bangi doesn’t actually handle the drug.
“We are buying land . . . We’ll lease it back to the growers, the dispensaries, the extraction companies.”
Knowles said he was unaware that his son-in-law Jay-Z was also getting into the marijuana biz and says it’s too soon to say if they’ll collaborate on business.

Beyoncé’s daddy knows how to finesse a check. Reportedly, Mathew Knowles is developing a musical based on the story of Destiny’s Child.
“I want to pull back the curtain,” Knowles said in a statement , as reported by Deadline. “I feel it’s time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I’ve had as a husband, father and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams – those of mine and others.”
Per Knowles, the production will be titled Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical. He also plans for the musical to premiere in Houston in 2020 before going on to Broadway and London’s West End, and a world tour.
Knowles plans to bring his “vision to life” with writer, producer, and director Je’Caryous Johnson.
Added Johnson, “I am ecstatic to be working with Mr. Knowles on the development of Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical,” says Johnson. “It is a unique and inspiring story that will fearlessly tackle hard truths, while bringing both vindication and healing to all who lived it. It’s fair, it’s real and it’s an absolute honor to know that Mr. Knowles trusts me to pen and produce such an iconic piece of American history.”
For now, don’t expect Beyoncé to be involved since she hasn’t worked with her father in years.
