ABC News along with other news outlets have reported that a deadly shooting took place at Tuskegee University this past weekend during its 100th homecoming celebration, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The university released an official statement to the press after the shooting stating, “The university is in the process of completing student accountability and notifying parents. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”

As of today (November 11), an arrest in the shooting has been made. Jaquez Myrick, 25, of Montgomery, has been arrested and charged federally with possession of a machine gun. Authorities say Myrick was found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device.

Law enforcement found Myrick leaving the scene of the shooting, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. confirmed Sunday afternoon. Myrick is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility until he is picked up by a federal agency, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

Macon County Sheriff André Brunson said he believes there are multiple suspects in the shooting.

“If you‘ve seen some of the videos, there was shooting all over the place. So, I think there will be multiple suspects,” he said. “We’re going to deal with it and try to get every last one of them.”

Seven People Shot Dead In Another California Mass Shooting

Screen Shot 2023 01 24 at 11.23.00 AM

As the country still reels from the mass shooting in SoCal’s Monterey Park tragedy, where 11 people were killed and at least ten others were wounded by a single shooter, another mass shooting has occurred in the Golden State; this time in the Northern CA’s coastal city of Half Moon Bay, where seven people were fatally shot. It has also been reported that all of the victims in the shooting were Chinese American farm workers.

The suspect, 67-year-old Zhao Chunli, was arrested after driving to a police station.

California has been the epicenter for the country’s latest mass shootings, that have now climbed to 39 in the first 24 days of 2023. California Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted that he was at a hospital meeting with victims of the earlier mass shooting when he was pulled away to be briefed about the second attack.

Four of the shooting victims of the shooting attack were discovered at a mushroom farm while the other three were later found at a nearby trucking business. An eighth victim is being treated in hospital and is in a critical condition.

This kind of shooting is horrific. It’s a tragedy we hear about far too often, but today it’s hit home here in San Mateo County,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s office said in a statement. San Mateo County Board of Supervisors President Dave Pine told the Associated Press that the shootings were committed by a “disgruntled worker”.

“We are sickened by today’s tragedy in Half Moon Bay,” Mr Pine said in a statement. “There are simply too many guns in this country and there has to be a change.”

Just hours after the attack, seven were injured and one person was killed in a shooting in Oakland, about 40 miles northeast of Half Moon Bay.

The man accused of planning a mass shooting at a Yo Gotti concert at the Memphis arena will undergo a mental evaluation.

28-year-old Elijah Hyman was arrested after authorities found he had several firearms in his apartment and had made “significant preparations to carry out a mass shooting.”  Memphis Police Department reported they observed the suspects apartment had been set up with binoculars in a broken window, giving him a direct sight and access to shoot at the FedExForum, and surrounding parking lot.

Hyman reportedly told police he “wanted to shoot as many people as he could” at the CMG label head’s birthday bash last Saturday. Hyman was upset due to a recent breakup with his girlfriend on Jul. 12, according to reports.

Hyman has been charged with commission of the act of terrorism and 30 counts of attempted first-degree murder and 30 counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony. He is being held without bond and is set to be back in court August 8, following a mental evaluation.

Gunman Opens Fire Killing 2 During Sunday Sermon In TX Church; Guard Returns Fire At Shooter

A shooter opened fire and killed two people at a Texas church this afternoon, but no one expected someone else to be packing that would critically wound the gunman, ultimately protecting the parishioners.

The West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas, a suburb about 15 minutes outside of Fort Worth, was the site of the shooting during the Sunday sermon. A livestream on the church’s website that caught the entire ordeal as it was happening, has since been taken down, but stills from the video captured both shooters as well as the ducking churchgoers.

According to conformed reports, the gunman was in the church during the service, but stood up and began shooting during communion. As seen in the now deleted video, the hooded shooter took aim at the crowd, but a security guard almost immediately returned fire.

At the time of this writing the motive of the shooting remains unclear, but the shooter was taken into custody alive, so many questions may still be answered.

TheSource.com will bring updates to this story as it develops.
