Just In Time For Halloween, Dillon x J57 Drop Spooky Visuals For “The Squeeze”

Having just dropped their joint album “83 Kids” earlier in the week, the duo are back with the first video off the album. The video is the perfect lead-in to Hallow’s Eve as it is rife with voodoo dolls, creepy masks, creepy crawlies, and trippy effects…Dillon even dies by the end.

This visual accompaniment to one of the best songs on “83 Kids” is not the work of a sole creator but instead a group effort. It was directed by J57, filmed by Fulani G. Jabri, edited by Morningside Films, with VFX by Indieffects. Peep the vid below but maybe keep the lights on.

Dillon And J57 Encourage Heads To Grab A Couple “Coladas” And Vibe With Them

Last week Dillon and J57 hit heads with “The Squeeze,” the lead single off their upcoming collab album “83 Kids” and this week they’re back with a fun track titled “Coladas” that brings a little sun to the Fall. J builds the beat around a funky guitar lick and echoing horn stab, which Dillon casually walks all over. If you’re looking for that strain of Hip-Hop that is not trying to keep up with trends or play too cool, but instead revels in what made the masses gravitate towards this street-bred genre in the first place, you just found it!

Dillon And J57 Put “The Squeeze” On The Comp With New Single

Lobsterdamus himself (aka Dillon) is back and this time around he’s rocking his trademark style of true school lyricism over beats by none other than FiveSe7en Collective founder, J57.

While most heads are likely familiar with Dillon (I mean, shit, he did a full project with Diamond D), they may not know he is the driving force behind Full Plate Records and the semi-annual Plates & Crates events in the ATL. This triple threat (emcee/DJ/producer) really doesn’t need anyone’s help to make dope music but he has regularly collaborated with a number of respected rappers and beatsmiths over the last decade, including Paten Locke (RIP), the aforementioned Diamond D, Batsauce, Boog Brown, and more.

As for J57, he has been a notable boardsman since his Brown Bag All-Star days. The NYC producer has done albums with a diverse cross-section of emcees, including Ras Kass, El Gant, Shabaam Sadeeq, Blame One, and Heem Stogied.

These two linked to cook up some marvelous shit and the end result is a full-length album titled “83 Kids.” Over the course of ten tracks they display a genuine chemistry that is complimented by features from Skyzoo, Blu, Diamond D, and J-Zone (on the drums). The lead single is titled “The Squeeze,” which is out now.

J57 – “The Analog Tape 3.3” (Album)

MC/Producer J57 just dropped his latest instrumental album titled “The Analog Tape 3.3” via his label FiveSe7en Collective/Soulspazm Distribution. The theme for the album covers for the “Analog Tape 3.0” series has all consisted of photos from the very early Brown Bag AllStars days; working at Fat Beats, doing shows, and more all from 2008-2009. The sound of this series is very eclectic/genre-bending boom bap, electronic, indie, and much more. The last song on the album “Rell Swank” is a requiem J57 created when he found out his friend Rell Swank (Joey Bada$$‘s cousin) was murdered in an incident. RIP!

You can stream/purchase this album via J57’s bandcamp.
