Kyle Massey’s Mother Jumps in Conversation to Defend Son

Kyle Massey Mother

All eyes are currently on ex Disney star, Kyle Massey. The Thats So Raven star is currently battling some serious allegations that claim he sent pornographic material to a 13 year old girl from December 2018 to January 2019.

In response to the accusations, Massey told the public to not “jump to conclusions” and believe a false narrative. Massey’s mom, Angel Massey stepped forward to defend her son against the accusations put out against him.

“Even though he consented to having sex with her at 16, in the state of California that’s illegal because a minor can’t consent to sex. So that’s how Kyle knows the mother,” Angel Massey explained in the video. “He never sent anything to a minor. This is an old attempt from the extortion from 2019,” she mentioned regarding a case in relation to this one, filed by the same parent two years ago.

“She took the same CALIFORNIA COMPLAINT that she was unsuccessful in prosecuting and filed it in SEATTLE where she lives. MY SON KYLE IS THE VICTIM TODAY JUST AS HE WAS BACK ON FEBRUARY 14, 2019 when we got the 1.5 MILLION DOLLAR EXTORTION DEMAND!” Angel continued.

Massey is facing a felony of one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. Massey was set to appear before a judge at King County Criminal Court in Washington this week, but failed to show. We will keep you updated with details.

Black ‘Cinderella’ Movie With Brandy & Whitney Houston Sets For Disney+

Black Cinderella Movie With Brandy Whitney Houston Sets For Disney

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella starring Brandy and Whitney Houston is officially coming to Disney+. On Thursday (Feb. 4th)! Disney announced that the musical will premiere on the streaming service “at the stroke of midnight” on Feb. 12.

While appearing on The View, Brandy also makes the announcement alongside her Cinderella co-star Whoopi Goldberg. The two stars reflected on Brandy’s groundbreaking role as the first Black princess.

“It meant everything to me because first of all, I got to work with my childhood idols, Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters,” she said. “The impact that it had on me and the lives of so many families and girls that look like me, it was just unbelievable. Looking back, I can now share this with my daughter and watch it.”

In addition to becoming a fan favorite, the musical movie was also a significant success. It earned seven Emmy nominations in 1998, winning for art direction for a variety or music program.

The film became a cult classic since it premiered on Nov. 2, 1997. More than 60 million viewers tuned into the televised movie of the live-action fairy tale adaptation. Cinderella starred Brandy as Cinderella and Houston as her fairy godmother. While featuring a diverse A-list cast, the film became a staple to many black girls growing up in the 2000s.

Castmates included Victor Garber, Bernadette Peters, Paolo Montalban, and Jason Alexander, and spawned the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein soundtrack.

“I’m so excited that ‘Cinderella’ has a home now at Disney+ and we can celebrate and share and inspire a whole new generation,” added Brandy, who also shared the advice she received from the late Houston shortly before her passing in 2012. “She told me to please promise her to always be myself, like never change for anyone,” she said.

Earlier this week, Brandy’s album b7 was nominated for Outstanding Album at the 52nd NAACP Image Awards.

‘Queen of Katwe’ Actress, Nikita Pearl Waligwa, Dies At Age 15

Nikita Pearl Waligwa, a 15-year-old rising star from Uganda who was featured in Disney’s Queen of Katwe, has died.

According to published reports, the young actress passed away after a brain tumor diagnosis. Her death was announced on Sunday via Twitter by Gayaza High School, an all-girls boarding school outside the Ugandan capital of Kampala where Ms. Waligwa had been a student.

“You were a darling to many and we have lost you to a brain tumor at such a tender age,” the high school wrote.

According to local media, Walingwa was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016 and the movie’s director Mira Nair organized fundraising efforts to help fund her treatment in India. She “made a recovery in 2017,” Deadline reported, but the tumor returned in 2018.

Mira Nair said goodbye on Twitter early Monday, writing: “The heart breaks to see you gone, too young, too soon.”

Although Queen of Katwe is listed as Waligwa’s only acting credit, she took audiences by storm with her amazing performance in the role. Based on the true story of chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi who learned the game at age nine and went on to compete in international competitions, Waligwa played Gloria, Mutesi’s friend, with Lupita Nyong’o taking on the role as Mutesi’s mother and David Oyelowo as her chess teacher.

Nyong’o took to Instgram to express her condolences for the young actress and her family, noting that her vibrancy really helped Waligwa stand out on set despite the fact she was battling an illness.

“It is with great sadness that I post about the passing of Nikita Waligwa, the sweet, warm, talented girl whom I worked with on the film, Queen Of Katwe,” Nyong’o wrote on Instagram. “She played Gloria with such vibrancy. In her real life she had the enormous challenge of battling brain cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and community as they come to terms with having to say goodbye so soon.”

David Oyelowo echoed Lupita’s sentiment, writing a heartfelt post of his own about the young star.

“We mourn the loss of our beautiful Nikita Pearl Waligwa,” Oyelowo wrote. “She was a ball of light in @queenofkatwemovie and in life. Her battle with a brain tumor was humbling to witness. Her light will live on. 💔#rip.”
