Toni Braxton and Birdman are calling it quits.

The couple has called off their engagement in an announcement on social media.

On New Year’s Day, Birdman posted “It’s over…” on his Instagram Story. He later deleted the post and cleaned out his entire Instagram account. Braxton also scrubbed every picture from Instagram and posted a new photo of herself in a red dress.

“Starting a new chapter isn’t always an easy choice,” she wrote, “but ALWAYS choose to be chosen. Cheers to a new year.”

The couple, who has been friends for 17 years, began dating in 2016. They announced their engagement in February 2018. In April, Braxton said she was planning an extravagant Great Gatsby-themed wedding before the end of 2018.

“This is my second wedding, and I’m over 40,” she told PEOPLE. “It’s like [‘Sex and the City’s’] Carrie Bradshaw, the last bride. It’ll be elegant and a little sexy.”

Birdman proposed to Braxton with a $5 million engagement ring, which she lost after accidentally leaving her luggage on a plane in November.

“That’s my girl, my friend, my family,” the Cash Money boss previously told Wendy Williams. “That’s my love, my soldier, my life… She’s my life. I love her to death.”

This would have been the first marriage for Birdman and the second for Braxton.
