Remi & Raiza Biza return with new collaborative EP Black Hole Sun, out now

New Zealand’s Raiza Biza and Australia’s hip-hop frontrunner Remi Kolawole has recently shared their new EP Black Hole Sun via their respective imprints Low Key Source and House of Beige Records. With the record’s beat-making in the hands of Detroit’s legendary hip-hop and production maestro Black Milk, the 6-track masterpiece flows between infectious grooves and features from the likes of Sampa the Great and Baro. Ahead of their upcoming Australia & New Zealand tour, the collaboration is also treating fans to the wild visuals for debut single “Runner” ft. Baro.

The impeccable release absorbs all the free-flowing vocals and dynamic production afforded by the lineup of cross-nation collaborators, making for a melting pot of hip-hop and soul visions in one stunning reel of beats. Recent track “Runner” ft. Baro gave the first taste from the team; a high tempo, beat-driven hip-hop track electrified by dancing production from Black Milk, slick lyrics and cheeky verses from Melbourne friend Baro. Dropping the knees to a lower body groove, “Jiggy” expels deep bass strums to drive formidable vocals, backed by the smooth rhymes of Sampa the Great for a spine-tingling track and a force to be reckoned with. Stepping behind the mic for the feverous “Freeman”, Black Milk joins Remi and Raiza for a stunning marriage of hip-hop vocals atop a slowed down beat, explosive bass hits and spiralling keys.

A thought-provoking and powerful speech sustained by rolling production and defiant rhymes delivered once again by Sampa the Great, the track is a seamless sign-off to the record.

Accompanying the new EP is the video for recent sensation “Runner”, following the late-night escapades of Remi, Raiza and Baro, plus a cameo from Remi’s long-time musical collaborator (and half of REMI) Sensible J, who mixed the record at House of Beige Studios.

JamarzOnMarz Releases “Amnesia”

JamarzOnMarz, an Australian Lyricist and Saxophonist, releases his first single, ‘Amnesia’, from his forthcoming debut project. After the release of the Spotify Viral Chart hit, ‘Fire Extinguisher’, JamarzOnMarz is making a return to his worldwide audience with another controversial hit, but this time produced by the renown CashMoneyAp. Lyrically, ‘Amnesia’ delves into an uncharted Hip-Hop territory, as it dabbles with themes of gay sexuality and culture, and calls for a reinvigoration of competitive rap in Australia.

“I’m in my own lane. Who else can get straight people rapping gay lyrics?” – JamarzOnMarz

Three things inspired Jamarz’ amnesia: one, Grindr ‘hook-ups’ that became possessive (Jamarz identifies as gay), two, the use of party drugs inherent in gay nightlife culture, and thirdly, the Australian music industry overlooking his talent and accomplishments. Jamarz cements his self-proclaimed rise to rap “suprem[acy]” with clever plays on his sexuality; “Our closets aren’t on par, masc[uline] can’t match marz bar for bar”, and his alto saxophone subtly sampled throughout the track.

On a recent Instagram Live, JamarzOnMarz stated that ‘Amnesia’ is “the greatest Australian rap song, ever”. Jamarz’ confidence has built up over the past year following a performance with Solange in her band; for four sold-out shows at the Sydney Opera House, a set at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games on a LGBTQ line-up; with Courtney Act and Marcia Hines, and a Guinness World Record Toga Party; at the iconic Riverstage in Brisbane.

Cult Shotta Release Visuals For New Single ‘Likkel Rider’

Rapper Charles X and Hypeman Golo (fka R2D2) give us Western Sydney’s rap duo Cult Shφtta. Noted for their eccentric signature style and stage presence, the childhood friends are nothing less than colourful.

Likkel Rider Album Artwork.jpg

With the recent release of their single ‘Boomin’ featuring Atlanta rapper Reese Laflare, and recently inking a deal with Sydney’s Poster Child agency. Never ones to sit still, the duo have recently released their next offering of wavey post-punk mutant rap entitled ‘Likkel Rider’. The track is self produced and begins with a haunting sample that creeps into a driving trap beat – perfectly melding the two worlds together all whilst Charles X echoes the singles title.

Something a little different from the duo, the track continues its journey into a melodic verse that echoes the hallmarks of Charles’ ability to write swooning rap melodies. Golo is never too far form the action and ensures the the duos signature ad libs are present throughout.

Cult Shφtta’s energy and following hasn’t gone unnoticed, landing them performances at festivals such as The Plot, Snow Tunes and Hard Grime – the duo are also proud to announce their recent signing to TMRW Music Group imprint Poster Child…home to artists such as Kilter, Ebony Boadu, Go Freek, Kinder and more.

With plenty more tricks up their sleeve, it’s easy to see why 2018 is predicted to be the
year of the SHØTTA!!!
