Whitney Houston’s Family at Odds in Regards to the Singer’s Hologram Tour

Yesterday began the start of the Whitney Houston tour, giving fans another chance to view one of entertainment’s most beloved voices. The An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour started in England yesterday and after fans watched the hologram perform some of the singer’s greatest hits, they had no shame in voicing their disapproval.

Fans seem to believe that the tour is nothing short of a way for her estate to continue to profit off of the singer. One fan referred to the hologram as “PlayStation 1 graphics.” LGBTQ site NewNowNext referred to the concert as “The greatest flub of all.”

The show includes the hologram of the late singer, along with live musicians and dancers that help fans reminisce to “The Greatest Love of All,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “How Will I Know. “

Not only are fans having opposing views of the tour, but Whitney’s family seems to have mixed views on the tour as well. Whitney’s cousin, Dionne Warwick seemed to also not be in favor of the tour.

“It just can’t happen. It just can’t,” Warwick stated. “Not if I have anything to do with it. I’m in the process of … they are NOT going on tour with it.” However, Whitney’s sister in law, Pat Houston says, “In the spirit of Whitney, I know we’re doing all the right things right now. This is something that she wanted to do. I get very emotional watching this, because it is so, so close to what she wanted.”

Fatima Robinson, director of the show, tells Fast Company, “To me, this is about remembering Whitney’s body of work, and it’s just like putting on a DVD of her performance and enjoying it, except with this you really feel like she’s back on that stage in front of you.”

The tour will continue until April 3rd, 2020. The Newark singer will always live in our hearts, RIP to legend, Whitney Houston.
