On this date in 1999, Sean “Puffy” Combs and Jennifer Lopez were arrested after leaving the scene of a shooting at Club New York in Manhattan.

The district attorney decided not to charge actress/songstress Jennifer Lopez, but Puff and two others would accrue weapons charges after a stolen gun was found in their vehicle.

Jamal “Shyne” Barrow, who was arrested for the shooting inside the club, says he acted in self defense after “Scar” Allen threatened them.

Shyne received a ten year sentence for the shooting, but only served eight years.

He was also dropped from the Bad Boy label during his incarceration.
