Vin Jay Takes On Drug Abuse And Suicide In New Visual “Break Down”

With his sharp pen game and equally potent flow, Vin Jay deftly takes on the topics of drug abuse and suicide—two issues near and dear to him—in his powerful new video for “Break Down.”

Much like the track itself, the visuals portray the struggles of a young man grappling with his mental health—to the point where he attempts to take his own life several times. All credit due to the actor in the video, as well as Vin Jay himself, who shows up in the final third to show his compassion and understanding of how his friend could reach such a point.

There’s a very distinct realness to it all, and you can tell Vin Jay approached both the video and his lyrics with the utmost respect and love. That’s because he actually went down a similar path prior to turning his life around, and he’s using his music as a way to encourage others to know that help is available and that they’re not alone. You can also call the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline anytime, 24/7, by dialing 988.

Vin Jay Reveals Minimalist And Visually Striking New Video “Brain Dead”

Vin Jay reveals the minimalist and visually striking new video for “Brain Dead,” the bravado-laced banger off his upcoming EP, Karma. The video is directed by Anickan, a fellow artist as well as an award-winning indie film director. And you can tell there’s some real talent behind the lens—and in front of it—in how such a seemingly straightforward set can come to life in “Brain Dead.” It’s really just Vin Jay and a chair, but there’s so much more to it thanks to Anickan and, of course, the man on the mic.

As the Long Island emcee says in the beginning of the track, he’s getting back to his roots on here, which means plenty of ferocious wordplay and sh*t talking. According to Vin Jay, he wanted to write a track that was equal parts braggadocio and inspirational. “It’s a lyrical record that I hope will inspire people to get up and reach their full potential,” he says.
