Following the continued success of Starz Power series and all of its connecting spin off series’, 50 cent has connected with Love And Hip Hop creator/producer Mona Scott-Young and former TMZ co-host Van Lathan for WEtv-powered, non-scripted series titled Hip Hop Homicides.

From every Hip Hop related homicide, including the most obvious, Tupac and Biggie, the show will delve into the specifics behind all of the unsloved killings in the Hip Hop community in an attempt to find out what actually happened.

Last week, Fif posted about the show with the caption, “Heat on the way WE tv, HIPHOP HOMICIDES GLG. GreenLightGang bulls eye another hit. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi @vanlathan @monascottyoung. BOOM.”

In a statement explaining the purpose of the series, the television mogul said, G-Unit Film and Television has thrived by telling real stories. As I continue to grow my current slate, premium non-scripted programming will be a major focus. Hip Hop loves things that are damaged. This series will shed light on the artists that didn’t make it through the struggle.” Mona Scott-Young added,  “50 and I created this show in response to the disturbing number of murders in Hip Hop. With this boots-on-the-ground investigative series, we will look to closely examine and explore leads surrounding these cases with the hope of finally providing loved ones with answers.”

The series is slated for later this year on WEtv and the streaming service ALLBLK.

50 Cent on His Oldest Son: ‘I Didn’t Think That Success Would Cost Me My Firstborn’

50 Cent spoke with Van Lathan about his new book Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter on Tuesday night but the conversation would shift to his son, Marquise Jackson.

Fif would detail despite not being in his life, Marquise had everything he didn’t have due to over $1 million in child support.

“It is sad, it’s a sad situation,” 50 said. “When you pray for success, you don’t necessarily pray for the things that come with it. It’s no such thing as success without jealousy without envy or entitlement.

“I didn’t think that success would cost me my firstborn but it’s the situation it is. Like, my grandfather used to say, ‘If it rattles like a snake and slithers like a snake, is it a snake or do you need to be bit?’”

Marquise had some words for 50 last week after the rapper joked about accepting 6ix9ine before his own son.

“I just woke up I had a long day on the Gram yesterday. I didn’t get a chance to hop in the most gangsta live ever,” Marquise said.

He would go on to play the clip where 50 said he would claim Tekashi first.

“Did he just say he would claim a rat?,” Marquise said. “Aw nah, I don’t want no part of that cheese y’all eating over there big fella.”

TMZ Fires Van Lathan After Politically-Charged Dispute With Michael Babcock

In an unexpected turn of events, famed TMZ employee Van Lathan has actually been fired by the company after what Page Six calls a “nasty confrontation” with fellow colleague Michael Babcock.

Lathan, who gained national attention last year following his viral on-air dispute with Kanye West, was actually let go an entire week and a half ago. That might explain his ominously-foreshadowing tweet seen above, which was posted just before the official report broke not too long ago.

Here’s how Page Six is describes the run of events:

We’re told that the pair appeared on the site’s online show “TMZ Live” together about a week and a half ago and had some kind of disagreement. The on-air face-off has been edited out, we’re told, but sources say they were sparring over politics, which has increasingly come between them

What ultimately got Lathan fired was his choice of words following the confrontation, which sources claim he told Babcock there would be trouble if he “ever embarrassed [Lathan] like that again.” After a follow-up meeting with TMZ attorneys, Lathan was at first suspended. A few days later, he was officially let go.

Thankfully, it does seem that Van is doing fine as per his own words, which he tweeted shortly after his initial response to the subject.

We’re pray for the homie, especially since it seems like he may have been standing up for the right cause. We’ll let you guys decide though: do you think it was right for TMZ to fire Van Lathan for allegedly verbally threatening his coworker? Sound off over on our Facebook and Twitter with your thoughts!
