Crash Bandicoot is back, and we not talking about no remastered game either.

It’s been over 10 years since the world was introduced to everyone’s favorite video game marsupial. PlayStation’s unofficial mascot Crash Bandicoot is back and returns to action in Activision Blizzard’s aptly titled Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time picks up where Crash Bandicoot: Warped left off with “Neo Cortex, Dr. N. Tropy, and Uka Uka were last stranded on a distant planet. After decades of fruitless attempts, the trio finally makes their escape, ripping an Evil-Scientist-sized hole in the fabric of space-time in the process. Now all that stands between them and total dominion over the multiverse are two fuzzy marsupials from N. Sanity Island.”

Fans are, of course, hyped that Crash has returned, but no one is more excited than The Migos’ own Quavo, who is a huge Crash Bandicoot fan and puts it on display with his iced out Aku Aku chain. Huncho’s fandom was rewarded cause he got the opportunity to play Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time before anyone else. Of course, he couldn’t help but rub it in our faces and posted a video of himself playing the highly anticipated title.

Fellow Hip-Hop artist Trippie Redd saw Quavo’s video and let it be known in his words he was “appalled” that he didn’t have a chance to play the game because he is the biggest Crash Bandicoot fan on the planet.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time reintroduces the titular character in a fresh new art style while keeping all the zany action and gameplay we have come to love from the franchise in place.

The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, and Xbox One X on October 2, 2020. Pre-orders are available now. You can watch the first trailer for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time below.

Slippery: Migos Wins “Walk It Talk It” Copyright Lawsuit

US-MUSIC-FESTIVAL-ASTROWORLD

More money more problems continues to ring as an applicable mantra in Hip-Hop. Thankfully Migos dodged a big legal bullet this week that will let them keep their coins.

Complex is reporting that the trio landed a victory in their copyright infringement battle over “Walk It Talk It.” In 2018 a rapper by the name of M.O.S. filed a suit against the group claiming they shark bit his track “Walk It Like I Talk It” from his 2008 mixtape It’s Like A Movie. The paperwork stated that he was requesting a monetary payout for “unspecified damages” and “demanded that defendants immediately cease and desist from any further use of” of the song in question.

According to article, Migos came out victorious as U.S. District Judge Analisa Nadine Torres ruled in their favor. On Tuesday, November 12 the magistrate dismissed the copyright infringement lawsuit citing that the phrase “Walk It Like I Talk It” is too much of common phrase to copyright. She also pointed to other Rap records that also mention the line as further evidence (Paul Wall’s “March ‘n’ Step”).

“Because songwriters must be free to borrow sayings and expressions from popular culture, the Second Circuit and courts in this district have found that short and commonplace phrases are not protectable, even when used as the title or repeated lyrics of a song, as is the case here,” Torres explained. “The only similarity between the two works at issue, the lyrics ‘Walk It Like I Talk It’, is not original to the author and is, therefore, not protected by the copyright laws.”

You can listen to M.O.S.’ song below if you care.

Rolling Loud Cancels Hong Kong Festival Due To Protests

2019 Rolling Loud New York

Rolling Loud fans in Hong Kong will have to wait a little longer for the epic festival to take place.

According to published reports, festival organizers are canceling the upcoming events in West Kowloon due to anti-government protests and safety concerns. Organizers took to Facebook to announce that they came to the decision after consulting with “security experts” who advised against proceeding.

“We are saddened to announce that Rolling Loud Hong Kong, which was scheduled to occur on October 19th and 20th at Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, is being canceled,” organizers wrote. “After consulting with security experts, it has been determined that it is not possible to organize the upcoming Rolling Loud Hong Kong edition as we had hoped without endangering the safety and well-being of our fans, artist, and staff. While we regret having to cancel the festival, this is not a decision that has been taken lightly and we look forward to bringing the Rolling Loud festival experience to Hong Kong in the future to celebrate the city’s rich culture and buzzing Hip Hop scene.”

The Protests in Hong Kong were sparked by a since-withdrawn extradition bill, which raised concerns about fugitives facing unfair trials in China. The controversial bill was introduced after a Hong Kong citizen confessed to murdering his pregnant wife while on vacation in Taiwan. Due to the crime being committed in Taiwan, Hong Kong was unable to charge the man with murder which led to officials introducing the controversial bill in order to extradite the man to face charges.

Protesters are against opening Hong Kong to extradition to counteract the increased interest in Hong Kong becoming a part of the Communist Party of China, who has actively been taking an interest in the small country since Hong Kong’s separation from Brittain in 1997. Protesters are hoping that the conflict will instead make Hong Kong full democracy.

The two-day festival was slated to have performances by The Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Playboi Carti, and Ski Mask the Slump God, has yet to have a rescheduled date but the cancellation announcement did direct fans on what to expect in regards to a refund.

Offset Joins Gaming Juggernaut FaZe Clan As Its Newest Investor

Hot 97 Summer Jam 2019

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz

Despite the recent news of being sued by former member professional gamer Turner Tenney AKA Tfue, FaZe Clan just got another high-profile name on board. The gaming juggernaut announced today (August 16) that Migos member, Offset has joined the organization as its newest investor.

As per the statement, the new partnership “includes a commitment by Offset and FaZe to build a mutually beneficial partnership to continue to propel FaZe Clan’s dominance and accelerate the intersection of esports and entertainment in general.”

No financial details were disclosed, but Kulture’s dad is very excited to join the gaming group. In the announcement, Offset born Kiari Kendrell Cephus expressed his love for video games and recognizes Esports are the future.

“I love gaming, and esports is the future. These two facts make it only right that I be a part of the biggest esports organization with some of the best players in the world.”

FaZe Clan’s President Greg Selkoe added:

“We view Offset as an amazing addition to the FaZe Clan family and look forward to working closely with him to develop co-branded experiences, content, apparel and anything else his incredibly creative mind can conceive of. FaZe is all about pushing the boundaries of what an esports brand can be as we truly believe gaming now sits at the epicenter of almost all current pop-culture trends. Our roots and DNA are gaming, but we have built a lifestyle brand and social movement around this. What is key to our formula is that everyone we bring into the FaZe Clan family has to first have an authentic love for gaming and Offset is both one of the planet’s biggest musicians and a skilled gamer and esports aficionado as well.”

Who knew Offset was a gamer?

He is not the only Hip-Hop name associated with the gaming organization. Lil Yachty announced back in December, last year that he was joining the clan under the name FaZe Boat. Drake also revealed back in September 2018 that he is the co-owner of another popular Esports organization 100 Thieves.

This latest move only proves that Hip-Hop and gaming are closer than most think. Offset clearly sees potential and is trying to get himself a piece of the pie, and we are not at that at all.
