A$AP Rocky Performs For First Time Since Sweden Arrest, Asks Fans for Prayers as He Awaits Verdict

A$AP Rocky made a welcome return to the Real Street Festival on Sunday night following his highly-publicized trial in Sweden.

“I’m so happy to be here right now,” Rocky told the crowd at the festival. “Y’all don’t understand. I’m so happy to be here right now. That was a scary and humbling experience . . . I can’t thank y’all enough.”

The Harlem rapper urged the crowd to form a mosh pit and brought out A$AP Ferg, Tyler, the Creator, and YG to the stage during his set.

Earlier this month A$AP Rocky was released from Swedish custody for assault charges. The Testing rapper and his two co-defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges and will find out if they have to serve time on Wednesday, August 14th.

He thanked his fans for riding for him during this “difficult” time and urged them to continue praying for him because the trial isn’t over yet.

“Hopefully with God’s will I’m not guilty and shit,” he said. “I get the verdict on Wednesday . . . Hopefully we ain’t gotta go back to jail or nothing like that, nothing crazy. I don’t got nothing against Swedish people.” Rocky added that Swedish fans were protesting outside of the jail rallying for his release.

We Don’t Take Kindly to Threatz: Did A$AP Rocky’s Arrest Make the U.S. Threaten Sweden With ‘Negative Consequences’?

While we can thankfully say that A$AP Rocky is no longer sitting in a Sweden prison following his month-long assault case in Stockholm, one of the tactics used by U.S. officials to get him freed isn’t exactly sitting too well with many that’ve been following the whole ordeal since day one.

One of our last reports on the trial was that Donald Trump sent a presidential envoy to oversee the court proceedings, but that’s not the only order of business that was issued by the President.

Take a look at the letter that U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs Robert C. O’Brien sent to the Sweden’s Prosecution Authority during his stay:

Stockholm, Sweden
July 31, 2019

Prosecution Authority of the Kingdom of Sweden:

On behalf of the US. Government, I present my compliments to the Prosecution Authority of the Kingdom of Sweden and with respect to the upcoming legal proceedings in the case of detained American citizens Rakim Mayers, David Rispers, and Bladimir Corniel, the US. Government requests the following:

-Immediate humanitarian release from the current Kronoberg Remand Prison.
-Supervised detention in a local Stockholm hotel pending final disposition of the case.

I take this opportunity to remind the Prosecution Authority of the commitment by President Trump to Prime Minister Stefan Lovfen that the three Americans will remain in Sweden if granted a humanitarian release.

As Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, I stressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice officials on July 29, 2019, the government of the United States of America wants to resolve this case as soon as possible to avoid potentially negative consequences to the U.S.~Swedish bilateral relationship.

I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to the Prosecution Authority of the Kingdom of Sweden the assurances of my highest consideration.

Very truly yours,

Ambassador Robert O’Brien
Special Presidential Envoy

The Prosecution Authority of Sweden,

Stockholm.

The entire document was originally obtained by CNN, which also includes the response from Swedish Prosecutor-General Petra Lundh (seen below). The real cause of concern is O’Brien’s use of the term “potentially negative consequences” that we’re sure most of the nation hasn’t even agreed to ourselves. Thankfully Lundh wasn’t too quick to fight underhanded fire with fire when responding, simply reaffirming what Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven had already stated when he said they have no say in any rulings placed by the Swedish Constitution. In short, chill with the threats bruh!

Ambassador Robert O’Brien
Special Presidential Envoy

Dear Mr. Ambassador

I have received Your letter and carefully taken part of Your concerns and requests regarding the American citizens and the case You are referring to.

According to the Swedish Constitution, a Swedish prosecutor is independent in his or her tasks to investigate crimes, to decide whether or not to instigate legal proceedings and to appear in court.

This means that no other prosecutor, not even I, may interfere with a specific case or try to affect the prosecutor responsible for the case in how he or she should decide or otherwise act with regard to the case.

Furthermore, when a person is charged and. the case is brought before a court, only the court can decide, during or after the trial, whether or not to release the person or decide on supervised detention.

I fully respect Your commitment in representing Your citizens but as I have explained above, I am unable to and therefore not take any action to accommodate Your requests.

Yours sincerely,

Petra Lundh
Prosecutor-General of Sweden

In all seriousness though, it is telling what American officials are willing to sever ties over when it comes to protecting the American citizen, even if it’s just to assure a vote come election time. The details in A$AP Rocky’s case are complicated and feature two different sides: one that sees a famous figure feeling threatened by a potentially inebriated individual on the street and the other that paints the story of a victim brutally attacked in a glass bottle beat-down. Neither is an appealing situation to fathom, but we’ll have to wait until a final judgment is issued later this month to see which side the law falls on.

The Source will continue to keep you all updated in the A$AP Rocky Sweden case. We’re praying for justice right along with the rest of the Hip-Hop community.

Video Surfaces of A$AP Rocky’s Bodyguard Choke Slamming Alleged Victim

TMZ posted a new video today that shows another perspective of what went down with A$AP Rocky in Sweden.

The video below was allegedly recorded before the alleged victim, Mustafa Jafari, threw a punch and his headphones at the rapper’s bodyguard. Meaning, it happened before the street brawl broke out.

Jafari claims self-defense for hitting the security guard and he managed to get let off with a slap on the wrist. However, the Harlem rapper’s bodyguard has not been charged despite the recording above.

A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage have been sitting up in a Sweden prison cell for over two weeks for an assault charge, which he plead not guilty for. His trial began this week and he was charged with criminal assault. If convicted, he can face up to two years in prison.

There’s no telling if this new video will sway the verdict.

Flacko’s first hearing was on Tuesday at Stockholm District Court. The courtroom is heavily secured and closed off to the public. His mother, Renee Black, was in attendance as well as a presidential envoy sent by President Donald Trump himself.

He’s putting in overtime for that Black vote to continue his Russian assignments. #FreeFlacko

Donald Trump Has a Presidential Envoy Overlooking A$AP Rocky’s Court Hearings in Sweden

The trial for A$AP Rocky’s assault case in Sweden has officially began, with the rapper already entering a not guilty plea stating self-defense as his rebuttal. Now, President Donald Trump has doubled down on his #FreeRocky stance by sending a presidential envoy for hostage affairs to his hearing.

A special envoy usually coordinates diplomatic engagements on overseas hostage-related matters for the American government, in this case the appointed official being Robert O’Brien and the American “hostage” being Rocky. O’Brien arrived at Stockholm’s district court yesterday to monitor the trial in order to “look after the well-being of American citizens” according to US embassy spokeswoman Ruth Newman.

According to The Guardian, the hearing was also attended by Rocky’s mom, Renee Black, as he sat in a prison-assigned green T-shirt and pants throughout the court proceedings. The trial is being held in a secured courtroom where photos and video have been prohibited.

The court has set aside two more days for A$AP Rocky’s Sweden trial, with witnesses scheduled to testify tomorrow (August 1). We’ll keep you all updated on any major developments.

Machine Gun Kelly Vows to Cancel Swedish Fish Until A$AP Rocky is Free

Machine Gun Kelly seems to be advocating for A$AP Rocky’s release and wants to hit the country where it hurts: Their candy sales.

MGK expressed to TMZ that he thought what was happening to the Harlem rapper was grimy and says he’s willing to boycott Swedish products until he’s released.

In the brief interview below, he declared the nation’s famous chewy, red, fish-shaped candy was cancelled until Rocky was back in the states.

“Dude, I say we put a boycott! We don’t buy any Swedish fish, no IKEA, no more Spotify until we let him out,” the reporter urged. But Machine Gun Kelly wasn’t bold enough to boycott the streaming service. “Free my man… No more Spotify? Woah,” the “I Think I’m OKAY” rapper quickly retracted once he realized what he was agreeing to.

Although the intentions are good, Swedish Fish is now owned by Cadbury and manufactured in Canada and not Sweden anymore.

New Details From A$AP Rocky’s Sweden Incident May See His Case Make a Turn For the Worse

The now-infamous assault case that currently has A$AP Rocky sitting in a Sweden prison has literally taken on a life of its own, so much so that even President Trump has weighed in with his surprising support of the Harlem rapper. Unfortunately, even Agent Orange may not be powerful enough to get Rocky out of this mess, especially following the Prosecution District of Stockholm’s preliminary investigation being publicly released.

The full 552-page document (seen above) includes pictures, text messages and timestamped surveillance footage — each detail unfortunately making the TESTING emcee look not as innocent as it was once perceived. For example, the video we originally saw posted on Rocky’s Instagram account may have allegedly been doctored and/or “cleaned up a bit” as a text message conversation between his team suggests. The doc also shows various pictures of the victim, Daniel Suneson, with cuts, bruises and gashes that were a result from allegedly being jumped and attacked with glass bottles by Rocky and his team.

Here’s an automated translation from one of the pages that puts the details in order:

“A film shows how Mayers, Rispers, Corniel, Williams and Hercules stand on Olofsgatan together with the plaintiffs Jafari and Hoseini and talk. This movie sequence is the same as the first clip in the video published by TMZ. A movie shows how Mayers with entourage as well as plaintiff stands in the Olofsgatan / Apelbergsgatan intersection and then disappears up Apelbergsgatan in the direction of Sveavägen. It is the same movie that is the last clip in the video that is published on TMZ. A movie shows how Mayers throws Jafari to the ground and how he, along with Rispers and Corniel, hits and kicks Jafari as he lies down. This movie has much better resolution than the video published by TMZ. In this video, you can see that plaintiff Jafari has no visible injuries to his arms when thrown into the ground by Mayers or during the first few seconds of the abuse. (See image attachment damage not occurred). You also see, when the video switches from Khadra filming himself to filming ahead, how Corniel makes some kind of outcome against Jafari who stands on the other side of Mayers. In connection with this outcome, glass crusher is also heard. At the end of this movie you can possibly see what something looks like from Rispers right hand when he charges a blow against Jafari. It is not possible to determine whether or what appears to be sticking up. Rispers looks to beat Jafari a little from below as Williams tries to keep Rispers away. It also looks like he meets Jafari with the medial side of his back (at the thumb / forefinger at the clasped hand). All style images from this movie are added as an image attachment.”

The text message exchanges also allude to the existence of more than one video, which may show an angle of the incident that, again, doesn’t show A$AP Rocky in the best of light.

Scan through the full 552-page preliminary investigation document above or by heading to DocDroid, which can be translated from Swedish to English if you have the time to copy & paste. You can also read the first and second arrest reports. We’re still praying for you regardless, Rocky.

A$AP Rocky Reportedly Charged With Criminal Assault

A$AP Rocky was charged with criminal assault after spending two weeks in a Swedish jail.

TMZ reports that the prosecutor will not recommend the full two year sentence if the Harlem rapper is convicted. His trial may possibly begin next Tuesday and go on until Thursday or Friday, but he will be held in the detention center in the meantime.

A panel of four judges are scheduled to hear the case next week and at least three must vote if an assault was committed for a conviction. If they can’t come to a decision, a new trial will be requested. In the case that A$AP Rocky is convicted, he will be sentenced a week later by a judge.

Two A$AP Mob affiliates have both been charged with the same crime and are both awaiting trial as well.

TMZ obtained the photos of the alleged victim’s injuries and you can see blood along his arm, back, fingers, and a streak of blood on his bicep.

Based on the pictures above, do you think it’s enough evidence for him to get convicted?

We Call BS: A$AP Rocky Says Race Not A Factor In Sweden Jailing

A$AP Rocky and Wiz Khalifa peform at the O2 Arena London

Source: R.M.T. /WENN.com / WENN

A$AP Rocky and his continued situation in Sweden has been noted by fellow rapper G-Eazy to have at the very least a tinge to do about the color of his skin. However, the A$AP Mob star has come out to say he doesn’t believe race is playing a factor regarding him still being jailed without a charge, and we call BS.

TMZ reports:

A$AP’s been in jail going on 3 weeks and he hasn’t even been charged, and when that happens it will only be for aggravated assault … an assault that was provoked by the alleged victim.

That said, our A$AP sources say he has made it clear to all in contact with him … he doesn’t think he’s being held because he’s black. That’s consistently been his story.

Here’s the reality … if A$AP or his team DARED suggest he’s being held because he’s a black rapper, there would be hell to pay with the prosecutor and probably the judge as well. We’ve spoken with Swedish Embassy and other officials, and they’re all adamant … they do not discriminate. If foreigners suggested otherwise in court, our sources say it would be a disaster.

We’re told A$AP will be charged and will then face 6 years in prison. The best defense they got is provocation by the alleged victim.

As G-Eazy noted, he was arrested for drug possession and assault last year, getting a virtual slap on the wrist. Something is a little fishy about the A$AP Rocky matter, just wish we could put our finger on it.

G-Eazy Says A$AP Rocky’s Sweden Arrest Is About Racism

2019 Breakout Festival

Source: Andrew Chin / Getty

A$AP Rocky is still jailed despite details of his case getting the attention of Congress and even President Donald Trump. Bay Area rapper G-Eazy, a white man, was himself arrested in Sweden last year and says the treatment Rocky is suffering now is a result of racism.

TMZ reports:

As A$AP Rocky rots in a Swedish jail for weeks without being charged with a crime, you gotta wonder how another rapper — a white rapper — accused of the same crime and more spent a relative nanosecond behind bars before being allowed to go on his merry way and leave the country.

You may recall a story TMZ broke a year ago in May, when G-Eazy was arrested in Stockholm after punching a security guard in a club and snorting coke using a $100 bill.

G-Eazy was arrested for assault, possession of drugs and use of narcotics. There was no video of the attack, yet prosecutors allowed him to strike a deal a day-and-a-half later … he pled guilty to violent resistance, a crime of violence against an official and illegal drug possession. His sentence — a $10k fine and probation. He was also ordered to pay the security guard $900.

G-Eazy shared an image of the TMZ story along with the following caption blasting Sweden for their treatment of Rocky:

Facts. This is the sad truth…The difference between me and Rocky’s treatment and process in Sweden brings to mind two concepts that disgustingly go hand in hand: white privilege and systemic racism.

Let’s call it what it is.

He should not be behind bars right now. My heart goes out to my brother @asaprocky and his team. We’re riding for yall.

Salute G-Eazy for calling out the facts.

A$AP Rocky Considered A Flight Risk – MUST STAY LOCKED UP

THE SAGA CONTINUES:

Seems that A$AP Rocky will not be released from a Swedish jail no time soon. According to TMZ, prosecutors made public a press release stating that they will keep him incarcerated while they continue to research what actually the altercation between he and a Swedish citizen. This research will last for another week. They will have had the rock star locked up for three weeks… before they can even determine that something happened????

Rocky and two of his associates are accused of assault and attempted assault (even after he defended himself against an initial blow delivered by the man in question). But because it is not all the way clear what happened, and the courts have not fully viewed the video that has been passing around for weeks, the trio remain behind bars. Confusing, right?

Racially and xenophobic motivated incarceration usually is.

So why has Rocky not been offered bond? Well, they don’t trust that Black man. Prosecutors believe that he’s a flight risk.

As reported by The Source, Kim and Kanye have reached out the President to help move things along. If he can’t stop fighting wrongfully locking up people here, how do we expect him to make progress there? Oh… that’s right… A$AP Rocky got some money… he might have a chance. Oh wait… he is Black… maybe not.
