Harley Quinn Looks To Rule Gotham City in Trailer To ‘Birds of Prey’, Rosie Perez Is Down

After much hype and anticipation, David Ayer’s 2016 DC comic book film Suicide Squad left much to be desired. Like, a lot. Aside from a quick appearance from Ben Affleck’s Batman there was almost nothing truly memorable about that film, not even Will Smith’s rendition of fan favorite villain, Deadshot.

But if there was one bright side to the film it was Margot Robbie’s performance as Joker’s main squeeze, Harley Quinn. Her take on the character was so dead on that not only did it inspire countless women to dress up as the homicidal heartbreaker but it also earned her a spinoff film where she leads a gang of female badasses as they take on a brand new Gotham City villain in Birds of Prey.

With the help of the like of Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), Quinn looks to take on another classic Batman villain, Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) as he tries to get them to fall in line with his crime syndicate and run Gotham City with an iron first. Looks interesting.

Check out the trailer for the Cathy Yan directed-Birds of Prey below and let us know if you’ll be checking for this when it drops February 7, 2020.

Will Smith is Not Joining ‘Suicide Squad’ Sequel

Will Smith will not be reprising his role in Suicide Squad 2 as Deadshot.

The reason why Smith decided to back out of the film was due to scheduling issues. Deadline reports that the James Gunn-directed flick is supposed to begin recording in September in Atlanta.

There’s no word on the rest of the cast but Margot Robbie is expected to return as Harley Quinn. She’s already reprising the Joker’s girlfriend in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey which is slated to open on Feb. 7, 2020.

Suicide Squad 2 is set to be released on Aug. 6, 2021. The first installment raked up $746.8M in the global box office, 44% of that made in U.S./Canada.

Will Smith Ditches SUICIDE SQUAD Sequel Amid BAD BOYS FOR LIF3 Filming

Will Smith

Hollywood superstar Will Smith is not bringing his talent back to the DC Cinematic Universe. The award-winning actor has reportedly pulled out of an upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.

According to reports, Smith’s availability has ultimately determined his fate in the highly-anticipated follow-up to the 2016 blockbuster.

Even though his return had not been made official, sources tell Variety that Will Smith, who played Deadshot in the original, is not expected to return for the studio’s upcoming sequel. Sources say scheduling was the ultimate factor and that the decision was made on amicable terms between both sides with no hard feelings. Though the studio has never confirmed who would be returning for “The Suicide Squad,” insiders say the studio has always wanted its biggest stars like Smith and Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the first pic, to return while figuring out other casting decisions along the way.
