Young Thug makes Saturday Night Live debut

Young Thug SNL

For almost 50 years, Saturday Night Live has hosted some of the top names in musical talent. Over the weekend, rapper Young Thug joined the ranks of musical icons who have made appearances on the long-running sketch show. And he wasn’t alone.

Young Thug brought out special guests Gunna and Nate Ruess for a performance of “Love You More,” which was a collaboration from Thug’s new album Punk. He also performed “Tick Tock,” a hit with a punk vibe for which Travis Barker and Blink-182 joined him to perform.

Young Thug’s SNL appearance coincides with the release of his second studio album, Punk, which featured collabs with some major industry heavy hitters. In addition to Gunna, Nate Ruess, and Travis Barker, the album also features Post Malone, Drake, Future, A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat, and J Cole, as well as recently deceased artists Juice Wrld and Mac Miller

SNL was not Young Thug’s first on-screen performance with Barker, however. The two teamed up for an NPR “Tiny Desk” performance earlier this year.

Kim Kardashian West Draws Viral Reaction After SNL Debut

Kim Kardashian West SNL debut

Kim Kardashian West has everyone talking after her SNL debut.

The Reality TV Star and business woman took on the role for the first time, giving what fans called a “savage” monologue in a hot pink velvet body-con jump suit.

She used the monologue to poke fun at her family. Kim joked that she is happy that no one can call her a gold digger. “Honestly, I’m not even sure how you become one,” she explained. “So I asked my mom’s boyfriend, Corey [Gamble].” No one from the family was safe, even joking on her own sex tape and rumored paternal parent O.J Simpson.

The SKIMS founder was definitely a great sport on SNL and had the internets buzzing. Here are some Tweets circulating social media below.

Kim Kardashian West’s appearance also drew participation from Bachelor Nation’s Tyler C, SNL vet Chris Rock, and wrestler John Cena

[WATCH] Eminem Appears As “Stu” in SNL “Stan” Spoof

Screen Shot 2020 12 07 at 9.04.59 AM

What would a December weekend be without holiday cheer and letters to Santa? Well, this weekend Pete Davidson appeared on Saturday Night Live as “Stu”, a spoof of Eminem’s 2000 hit song “Stan”.

The skit is based on Stu writing letters to Santa about how bad he wants a PS5. Stu becomes a Stan half way through the spoof, rapping, “Dear Santa, I notice you never wrote me a letter back/That’s fine dog, except really I think that’s kind of wack/If you help your biggest fan, then you should just retire/Or next time you slide down my chimney I’ll set your ass on fire.”

Kanye West ‘Prays For’ Issa Rae After She Said F Kanye on ‘SNL’

Kanye West 'Prays For' Issa Rae After She Said F Kanye on SNL

Issa Rae hosted Saturday Night Live last weekend, and she portrayed an NAACP lawyer for the Your Voice Chicago sketch featuring Kenan Thompson.

When speaking on the Presidential election, the Insecure star says she’s “voting for everybody Black,” referencing her viral 2017 red carpet interview at the Emmys when she said she was “rooting for everybody Black.”

At the end of the segment, Thompson said the race was “between Donald Trump, Joe Biden and Kanye West,” and that’s when Issa Rae’s character quipped, “Kanye? F him.”

Kanye took to Twitter Sunday morning to respond to the joke. “I’ve always said ‘SNL’ uses black people to hold other black people back. My heart goes out to Issa Rae. I’m praying for her and her family. I know that the twenty years of service that I’ve paid in the entertainment field has furthered our ability to be more successful,” he said attaching a screenshot of the results of her Google search.

Rae didn’t respond to Ye’s response, but there’s no real reason to. It was a joke and it is F him in regards to the Presidential election.

Today In Hip Hop History: The Funky 4 + 1 More Became The First Hip Hop Act To Perform On ‘Saturday Night Live’

On this date in 1981, the pioneering Hip Hop group The Funky 4 + 1 More became the first Hip Hop group to perform live on a national television broadcast.

Formed in The Bronx in 1976, originally comprised of K.K. Rockwell, Keith Keith, Sha Rock and Rahiem of the Furious Five, Li’l Rodney C. and Jazzy Jeff, the group made history when they appeared on a season-six episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Blondie’s Deborah Harry for a performance of its nine-minute hit “That’s The Joint,” which was ranked No. 41 on VH1‘s 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop list in 2008.

Interestingly enough however, Harry was not only the host, but the main musical guest that evening, performing covers of Teddy Pendergrass’ “Love TKO” and Devo’s “Come Back Jonee.” But she was also allowed to pick a fellow musical guest to accompany her on the program, and decided to go with Funky 4 + 1 More.
