Chicago Link Up: Saba Teams with No ID for New Single and Video "Back in Office"

A pair of Chicago legends in Saba and No I.D. have linked for the new single “Back in Office.” The single and video are an introduction to a private collection from the duo.

Using a bluesy guitar and luscious strings, No ID’s retro production tempers a smoldering pace on the song. Saba attacks the single with a declaration of the city they both hail from: “I’m from Chicago. We invented mobsters.”

You can see the video below and be on the lookout for more from the two.

Saba Teases Collaboration with No I.D. After Receiving 120 Beats

TN MS WW Ebro Saba 20220428 AUC Episode langen gb

Earlier this year, Saba dropped off his new album Few Good Things. The stellar effort brought in collaborations with G Herbo and Krayzie Bone. Now Saba has his eyes on another collaboration with No I.D.

Appearing on Apple Music 1 with Ebro Darden, Sabab talked about the Few Good Things album before revealing he received 120 beats from legendary producer No I.D. for a future project.

“So, when I got up with him, he told me he did 120. He was like, ‘A two-week span,’” Saba said. “‘I got 120. How many of them you want me to send you?’ And I was like, ‘Bro, I’m about to go on tour. Send me all 120.’ I didn’t expect him to actually do it, but he did it, and with the intent of just… I’m just having fun, mixtape style, just writing to as many of them… My goal is 10. I want to leave tour with 10, but I’m already at six, and we’ve been on tour for like a week, so I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll see how many, but it’s definitely… It’s something to come.”

A collaboration between the two Chicago natives would be epic, Saba added that No I.D. was one of the first to hear the Few Good Things album:

I played the album for No I.D. before it was finalized. I’m just like, “Hey, these are the songs I’m working on. I’m about to finish it up. This is the album.” I had 10 records that I played for him, and he gave me some notes, and they was really solid…one thing that he pointed out, he was like, “You did all of the musical shit, but I’ve been to your show before, and you had motherfuckers out there moshing, doing all type of other crazy shit that you didn’t do yet on this album. You need to do that.” And to me, that was like just a oversight, where it was something I didn’t even think about. It was like some legend advice to me…But to me, the most important thing he said, he was like, “You need a new closer.” He was like, “If you play… When you tour this album, without these new records, you’re going to still be closing with the big song from your last album.” He was like, “You can’t do that.” And I was like, “That’s something I didn’t even think about.” And it was the best…it put the battery in my back and got me back to work, and I went home, and “Survivor’s Guilt” was the first beat that I made.

You can see the entire conversation between Saba and Ebro here.

Saba – “Care for Me” (Album Review)

Tahj Malik Chandler who is popularly known as Saba (SABA) released his First work which was “Bucket List Project” in 2016 was awfully hit in that time.. After 2 years back, he comes with his second album “Care For Me” which was released on 18th April 2018. The tracks of this album had a bucket of musical instruments to make it feel better to the audiences. In the middle of these two album, SABA also released some single works i.e. “BUSY”, “LIFE”. This artistic work “CARE FOR ME” yet gets so much critical acclaim form the critics.

Total length of the Album is 41.35 mints and it contains 10 songs which are mainly of the HIP HOP Genre and Jazz Rap. One song of this album is vocalized by JOHN WALT. The album features other vocalists like THE MIND, KAINA, CHANCE THE Rapper . Let’s have a look at the work.

Based on first five reviews CARE FOR ME receives 93 out of 100 at Metacritic. According to the words of Justin Ivey,  “Care for Me, Saba accomplished his objective by making an album that can endure for years to come. His higher aspirations won’t afford him the visibility of the rappers acting out for attention, but projects like Care for Me should put him into the discussions of his generation’s best hip hop artists”. Renowned Music Critic Wren Graves of Consequence of Sound wrote “At 10 breezy tracks, Care for Me isn’t just a collection of songs; it’s an honest-to-god album that develops ideas at its own pace.”

And now have a short description of the album. The initial track of the album “Busy” he describes about the real world with his view. We all are busy with our own activities that we have no time to look at others. The other tracks “Broken Girls”  “Life” “Logout” “Smile” “Calligraphy” etc . also related with real life.

Prom / THE KING is the most Highlighted track of this album. This tract deals with the Drug addicted as Saba says that once we all live with a normal life we didn’t need any drugs for sleeping since we had “Insomnia”. His cousin makes a chance to date with girls as he never was so close with his cousin and had doubt to trust him. The rest of the track is based on the following incidents as the listeners will figure it out while listening, life coach from DoULike blog highly recommends to listen to this album try it out.

In the track “BROKEN GIRLS” SABA fall in love with a broken girl. As Saba loves to listen to the stories, he thought the girl will tell him her stories. But that girl was not of his type and gradually using him. Saba understands that but that was cool.. They used each other. They had long conversations and still know they are not like shit..

I’ve been waiting for a long time to see such a realistic work from SABA and think that my waiting is come to the end as this work is so mind blowing. And also this album will be the greatest work of Saba. His rap is related to the reality even can take the readers to think with Saba’s view. And this is the year’s greatest presentation..

Who Had The Best Rap Album Of 2018 (Battle 10): Royce 5’9 vs. Saba

We have our opinions on the best releases of 2018, but rather than simply tell you our pick for #1, we thought it would be more interesting to hear what you, the readers, believe is the Best Rap Album of 2018. With that in mind, we decided to make our Best Rap Albums Of 2018 list a living breathing conversation, that would ultimately lead to you, the readers, choosing which album is the best of the year. Throughout December, we will pit albums against one another, battle style, and your votes will determine the winners.

We’ve chosen 15 albums that we think represented the best Hip-Hop of 2018. Inevitably, we left off some LPs that you believe should be included, so, we held a wildcard round (with a write-in option) where readers picked the album they feel most deserved a spot on the list.

The bracket-style competition among the final 16 albums has begun. Each weekday, albums will face off against one another. In each case, voting will close after 24 hours. We will go from the Sweet 16 to the Elite 8 to the Final 4 to the Championship Finals, with one album emerging as the victor. The second Round 2 match-up from the Elite 8 is between Royce 5’9’s Book Of Ryan and Saba’s CARE FOR ME. Only one can reach the Final 4. Make sure your opinion is heard and gets counted (click on your album’s artwork in the box below, then click “vote”).

Royce 5’9 – Book Of Ryan

(defeated Apollo Brown & Joell Ortiz’ Mona Lisa, 65% to 35%)

In a career filled with a variety of impactful releases, Royce 5’9’s most personal and complex offering arrived this year. Book Of Ryan has Royce reflecting on chapters of his childhood as he takes audit on his life as a proudly sober family-man. It’s easily his most intimate, introspective album to date, as he goes page by page through his past, exploring his father’s struggles with addiction on “Cocaine,” the physical abuse his family endured on “Power,” and even life’s loss of innocence on “Boblo Boat.” One of 2018’s longer albums at the top, it maintains a cohesive narrative that’s tied together with perfectly executed skits. Nickel Nine can paint vivid pictures with his words to put the listeners directly in the shoes of both his younger and present-day self. For Heads who are more used to Royce demolishing a beat first and asking questions later, he has a few competitive joints sprinkled between his story, reuniting Bad Meets Evil on the Eminem-assisted “Caterpillar” and recruiting Pusha-T, Jadakiss, and Fabolous for the hyped “Summer On Lock.” Book Of Ryan proves to be Royce’s best look into the mirror, and has him evolving beyond the killer MC he’s known as, and into a true artist that can resonate with his story. – Sypher

Saba – CARE FOR ME

Grief, fear, loneliness, and depression can all separately stand as incapacitating barriers for an individual. When present in unison, it would be easy to just not be. For much of the last two years since releasing the eager and hopeful Bucket List Project, Saba was suffocated by a combination of the above obstructions. With music and the studio acting as the Westside of Chicago rapper’s lifelines though, CARE FOR ME ultimately formed as the light that cut swiftly through the darkness. That’s not to say that Saba’s third full-length album isn’t bleak, because it’s certainly veiled in agony. However, if there were ever a modern day LP that deserved the oxymoronic label of being beautifully tragic, CARE FOR ME is the one. Heartache stemming from the fatal stabbing of his older cousin John Walt is found throughout the entirety of the album, but Saba also visits anxiety and racial profiling (“BUSY/SIRENS”), tainted love (“BROKEN GIRLS”), his family’s life-long anguish (“LIFE”), gang violence in Chicago (“CALLIGRAPHY”), the unhealthy dependence on social media (“LOGOUT”), and the cruel nature of the music business (“GREY”). In an industry where the line between show and reality is increasingly blurred, Saba’s ability to paint a real-life picture with his words throughout CARE FOR ME has firmly situated him as one of the most promising storytellers in all of Hip-Hop. – Michael Blair

Released: April 5, 2018
Label: Saba Pivot, LLC
Guests: Chance The Rapper, TheMIND, Kaina
Producers: self, daedaePIVOT, Daoud
