Shameik Moore Dragged for Suggesting Rosa Parks Should’ve Taken a Cab

Shameik Moore Dragged for Suggesting Rosa Parks Should've Taken a Cab

Shameik Moore couldn’t make his big breakthrough in Hollywood, so he’s taking the route where he hops on social media and puts his foot in his mouth.

The Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse star shared his unsolicited opinion on the George Floyd execution that has the country divided and Minnesota’s police department in flames. “See I have a very strong opinion that the black community hates to hear.. but needs to hear… we need to learn how to deal with police…and or racism…because THIS is the part of the scenario we have failed to fix,” Shameik Moore tweeted. “We have to work on our community before blaming everything on ‘racist’ and police. 1… there is STILL black on black violence that needs to be addressed…and 2.. if we KNOW that the wrong white person could change our whole life with a false accusation… WHY DO WE GIVE THEM THE ENERGY THEY WANT? Give them an inch they WILL take a mile….. We literally know this already. At what point do we look at ourselves and make adjustments?”

Like every other influencer that talks too much on Beyonce’s Internet, he ended up apologizing and went on Instagram live to discuss further.

But the gag was when he suggested that Rosa Parks should’ve taken a cab after she was asked to move to the back of the bus so that a white person can sit in the seat she was already sitting in.

Shameik Moore really said this, but fortunately, 6lack gave him a well-needed message “with love.” He tweeted, “with love, no amount of correction, deference, or silence will change the way we’re viewed & i know you know that. i ain’t in the military and i shouldn’t have to carry myself like i’m speaking to higher authority because cops are just citizens who were employed to be of service.”

The singer added, “hatred/racism a virus & it’ll kill you whether you’re smiling, crying, silent, shouting. doesn’t matter. you know this”

Nicki Minaj Says She Was Bullied For “Yikes” Single

Billboard Women In Music 2019 Presented By YouTube Music

Nicki Minaj solidified her comeback with her latest single, “Yikes”, but according to Minaj she didn’t intend for the single to be released so soon.

On Sunday (Feb. 9) Nicki took to Twitter to host a Q&A session with fans, during the event one fan asked how the single came about, Minaj revealed that after playing a snippet online that fans and her label wanted the record out immediately leading her to joking say that she was bullied into the release.

“I was playing a snippet for my crazy fans & they made me put it out,” Nicki said. “They are bullies. I only had 1 verse done. The label bullied me too. I’ve been bullied.”

Nicki also states that the concept for the song was made up on the spot as soon as she heard the beat, before noting that the outro was a freestyle.

”I made up the hook with no paper,” Minaj continued. “Just freestyled in the booth cuz I loved the beat. so the yikes part is me hearing the beat for the very first time. The verses I wrote down. The outro was a freestyle.”

Although the infectious single served as the reintroduction to Nicki Minaj, it was met with overwhelming controversy after a line in the single mentioned Civil Rights icon Rosa Park in a disrespectful and inaccurate manner—the day before the observation of what would have been Park’s 107th birthday. As previously reported, initial reports from TMZ claimed that Minaj said she meant no harm by the lyric, but Ms. Petty took to her Instastory to deny the claim, stating that she didn’t know that there was controversy nor did she care.

“Never said this,” Nicki wrote with the TMZ headline included. “Had no clue anyone was mad. Don’t care. #Yikes”

The brazen attitude may be giving fans a glimpse into the new demeanor of Minaj. During the Q&A session with fans, Nicki also shared with fans a new alter ego that she plans to debut soon dubbed “Queen Sleeze,” who she states is “more calm but deadly.”

“She’s more calm but way deadlier,” she said. “My husband always says he’s more afraid when I talk quiet then when I yell. Lmao. He said that’s how he knows when I’m dead tf serious.”

Nicki Minaj Says She Doesn’t Care About Controversy Behind Rosa Park Lyric

Nicki Minaj shared a snippet of her new single “Yikes” with fans on Monday. Some people didn’t take one of the lyrics in the sneak peek to lightly. The lyrics read, “All you b*tches Rosa Parks. Uh oh, get your a*s up.”

Amongst those who disliked the lyric was the late civil rights activists’ nephew, William McCauley Parks. “It was both heartbreaking and disrespectful that Nicki Minaj would have a lyric in a song that can be used negatively when mentioning someone who provided her the freedoms that she has today,” he told TMZ.

TMZ reports the rapper felt like the line was “bad timing” and that she didn’t mean to offend Rosa Park at all. In response, Nicki posted a picture of the headline and set the record straight by adding on her Instagram, “Never said this.” Had no clue anyone was mad. Don’t care. #Yikes.”

The hashtag puns at the title of the single that releases Friday, February 7th.

Nicki Minaj’s Rosa Parks Line in Upcoming Single ‘Yikes’ Has Twitter in an Uproar

Yikes indeed. Nicki Minaj is under fire following the snippet of her song “Yikes” that she shared with fans on social media.

Just before the New Year, the rapper announced that she would be retiring from rapping. Since her announcement, Minaj has been featured on a few tracks including her latest verse on Megan Trainor’s “Nice To Meet Ya.”

Minaj shared a snippet of her upcoming single, “Yikes” while in the studio, but there’s one line that has people talking.  “All you b*tches Rosa Parks, uh-oh, get your ass up,” she penned. Considering the fact that its Rosa Parks’ birthday and Black History Month, some of Hip-Hop fans are not feeling the bar.

“Everyone shocked about Nicki’s Rosa parks line like she’s not the same person that said ‘like MJ doctor, they killing me,’” one fan tweeted.

“No tf she didn’t say ‘all you b*tches Rosa parks, go get ya a*s up’ Nicki! during black history month!?” another fan tweeted.

This is not the first time the rapper would be under fire for using a civil rights activist to her advantage. Back in 2014, Malcolm X’s daughter,  Ilyasah Shabazz called Nicki out for being “disrespectful” after Nicki used a photo of the civil rights leader, holding a gun as covert art for her single, “Looking A*s Nigga.”

“Ms. Minaj’s artwork for her single does not depict the truth of Malcolm X’s legacy, is completely disrespectful, and in no way is endorsed by my family,” Shabazz stated.

It wouldn’t be Nicki if she didn’t have a bar in her rhymes to get people talking. What do you think of the line?

Nicki Minaj recently ended her social media hiatus and has been blessing her fans with pics of her fits. Of course, Minaj was working on new music during her break and gave us a preview of her new song, but instead of praise, she is catching a lot of flack for an ill-timed Rosa Park lyric.

Last night (Feb.4), Minaj shared a video on her Instagram account of herself and her husband, Kenneth Petty, vibing out to her new song “Yikes” with the caption, “Yikes, you a clown, you do IT for likes.” While Mr.Petty was doing his best impression of Safaree in the background, Mrs. Petty is lip-synching her potential banger.

One line, in particular, mentioning the catalyst for the Civil Rights moment, had Black Twitter rolling their eyes electronically. “All you bitches Rosa Parks, uh-oh, get your ass up had people wondering why Nicki would use the name of the iconic Black-figure in such a way, especially during Black History Month.

The reactions were quite swiftly, with many not holding back on letting Nicki know she was dead wrong for the Rosa Parks bars. Of course, Minaj’s rabid fan base, the Barbz were on the frontline to protect their queen as well. You can peep all of the reactions to Nicki’s questionable lyrics below.

Rosa Parks Memorialized With Statue in Montgomery

Rosa Parks is engraved in history for refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. This past weekend marked the 64th anniversary of her life-changing actions and she was honored with a statue.

The bronze, life-size figure was unveiled right where Parks’ refusal took place. The first Black mayor of Alabama, Steven Reed, and the state’s governor, Kay Ivey, were in attendance.

Mary Louise Smith was also in attendance and she served as one of the original plaintiffs in the Browder vs. Gayle case, which resulted in the desegregation of buses, one year after Parks was arrested.

After the state appealed the original ruling, the Supreme Court declared segregated buses are unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment.

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was sitting in the “colored section” of the bus minding her own business, when the driver asked her to give her seat up to a white man because the front was full. The driver got the right one that day because she held her ground and didn’t give up her seat. She was jailed as a result and this event served as a catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement.

The Civil Rights icon died in 2005 at the age of 92 from natural causes.
