Jess Hilarious Uploads Four-Minute Apology for Discriminating Against Muslim Men

Jess Hilarious made headlines this week for feeling “threatened” by four Sikh men boarding a plane who were later kicked off.

After ignorantly justifying her actions in a series of since-deleted videos, she backpedaled and uploaded a seemingly more genuine apology.

In the tearful four-minute video, Jess explains the situation, saying, “There’s been a picture painted of me like I’m a Xenophobe or I’m racist or prejudice.”

“Naturally, in my previous post, I was defensive,” she said, reading her written statement. “That happens when you don’t take the time to really know what’s transpiring and understanding the error of my actions, I have to first acknowledge the rooted issues – which means racially profiling a group of individuals based on their appearance and on top of that publicizing it on a platform.”

She continued explaining that she empathizes with her victims as a Black woman in this country and should’ve been more sensitive considering the current social climate.

“I’m not sure if these particular individuals that were on the plane are aware of my actions by now. Either way, I would love to apologize personally to them first, for my insensitive and ignorant behavior,” the comedian said.

“Sadly, I had no knowledge of the tragedy in New Zealand and so after my video, which doesn’t in any way excuse my behavior. I already know that. Ain’t nothing excuses it. But it opened up my eyes to a matter of ignorance as a habit that usually invokes hate. I refuse to teach spread or be an advocate for hatred. I just want to make people laugh,” she said.

“Bear with me. I’m still learning. And when I say, I’m still learning, I was unaware of Sikhs, as well. A lot of them reached out to me, educated me on who they are and what they stand for and how they help the world in different ways. I didn’t know that. I’m ignorant to a lot of shit.”

Lil Rel Says he Feels Bad for Katt Williams

Lil Rel stopped by Two Bees TV ahead of the premiere of the second episode of his series, Rel, at the 2018 Urbanworld Film Festival. He was one of the victims of Katt Williams’ rant about undeserving comedians so of course that was a hot topic.

He discussed many things including, why he decided to cast social media comedian, Jess Hilarious, as his best friend on the show. But when asked about his thoughts in regards to what Katt said about him he admitted that he felt bad for him.

“There’s a reason why most of us haven’t given him jobs. He’s so talented, so funny, but I don’t know what he’s really angry about.” Rel continued, “The crazy thing is, maybe like five years ago he pulled me to the side and was like, ‘you going to be a star one day. Don’t let them burn you out’”

Eventually he went on to say that he still had respect for the legendary comedian, and that he was still a fan.

During the Q&A moderated by Blogxilla amid the screening, he explained what happened backstage at the Emmys when he crossed paths with Katt. Lil Rel said that when he heard Dave Chappelle showing him love, he just walked away. However, he was photographed on his knees and hugging Tiffany Haddish.

Urbanworld: ‘Rel’ Episode 2 Delivers Powerful Message About Gang Life in Chicago

Comedian Lil Rel Howery attended the 22nd annual Urbanworld Film Festival and premiered the second episode of his series on FOX, Rel. He was joined by Jordan L. Jones who plays his little brother, Nat.

If you’ve been following the show, you would know that episode 2 has been delayed and is scheduled to air on September 30th. But whoever attended the screening at the film festival had the lucky opportunity to watch the episode on Saturday, September 22nd.

The episode was funny, entertaining, and serious all at the same time. It starred Vic Mensa as the leader of a gang called The Lords, who organized a gang meeting in the laundry room in Rel’s building. Towards the end of the episode, Rel delivers a heartfelt message to the gang members about gang life in Chicago and its negative impact on the community. It will certainly stimulate a well needed conversation amongst the young community.

At the end of the screening, Global Grind’s Blogxilla moderated a Q&A panel and Lil Rel gave us a lot of insight about why NBC didn’t pick up his series, claiming that the network wanted him to diversify the crowd by adding a white character. But he stood his ground and the show was picked up as it is by FOX.

Be sure to tune-in to FOX on September 30th to catch episode 102 of Rel.
