Tinashe’s manager Mike Nazzaro detailed to Rolling Stone that she was not dropped, contrary to the rumors that were present on social media. The split from RCA has been official for a month.

In the past (2016), Tinashe expressed “creative differences” to Rolling Stone, and cites the end of the relationship with RCA as a “respectful separation on both sides.

“She wasn’t dropped,” Nazzaro says. “We initiated for her to be released. It was a positive split for her. It’s giving her back creative control.”

The next step for Tinashe and Nazzaro is figuring out what the next move for the songstress will be, and if that will include seeking new partners.

After being dropped from RCA Records, R. Kelly has a new album but no way to distribute it. A new report claims Kelly would like to release the project “imminently.”

According to Billboard the album is complete but it isn’t clear how the accused sexual predator will release it now that he no longer has a record deal. “He has plenty of options, from going through an indie distributor or signing a deal with a new label to potentially uploading the project directly onto Spotify” the site states, “though a rep said Spotify’s direct-upload feature is still in beta and available to only a small number of artists, which does not include Kelly.”

Sources who spoke with Billboard note that “while the music was recorded while the singer was under contract at Sony’s RCA Records, R. Kelly reclaimed ownership of his unreleased works as part of his agreement to leave the record label earlier this month.” Kelly’s team has reportedly been looking for a new distributor for months, reportedly even “before the Lifetime documentary came out.” As of right now, it’s looking like the project won’t drop as soon as Kelly had hoped,  but we’ll continue to keep you updated.

R. Kelly’s Record Label Has Pressed Mute & Told Him To Get To Steppin’

After more than 25 years and over 15 albums, R. Kelly and his record label have reportedly parted ways. The breaking news comes (January 18) after RCA/Sony Records sources confirmed the development to Billboard. The label recently removed the Chicago, Illinois singer from its website roster.

The move comes two weeks after Lifetime aired the Surviving R. Kelly six-part documentary. Executive produced by dream hampton, the doc interviewed women who have accused the singer of sexual misconduct and pedophilia. Additionally, the piece gathered input from another Sony Records-backed star, John Legend, who vehemently condemned R. Kelly on these allegations. The most-watched Lifetime program in more than two years also examined Kelly’s relationship with his management team and record label. Despite past high-profile trials, the 52-year-old has never been convicted of any sex crimes.

According to Billboard, R. Kelly’s existing catalog will remain in the RCA/Sony system. The singer signed to Jive Records in 1991. He would partner with Public Announcement to begin his recording career before his solo endeavors. Since that label dissolved in the late 2000s, R. Kelly moved to Sony BMG. He has been part of Sony’s RCA Records division since 2012. He released four albums since.

Throughout the legal events and public accusations, Jive and Sony remained committed to R. Kelly, including since last year’s #MuteRKelly campaign and a period where Spotify removed the artist from official playlists. The singer has 12 platinum full-length releases, and two #1 singles. While representatives were attempted to be contacted, the label has not released a statement.

R. Kelly and Sony Reportedly Agree to Split as Sex Scandal Unfolds

R. Kelly and Sony are reportedly parting ways amid a storm of sexual misconduct against the veteran singer.

Billboard reports that the agreement was mutual.

R. Kelly has been accused multiple offenses of sexual misconduct including rape and involving in sexual relationships with underage girls. He’s also accused of manipulating the lives of multiple women.

The split comes a day after protestors rallied outside of Sony’s office in Midtown Manhattan. They came equipped with a petition for the record label to drop the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer and it had over 200,000 signatures.

Sony already announced that they had no intentions on funding any of the Pied Piper’s future projects. Now he is no longer on the label.

RCA Records is Reportedly Holding R. Kelly’s New Music

Following the release of the Surviving R. Kelly documentary, many people have been trying to show their support for the victims by siding with them as opposed to taking R. Kelly’s side.

Chance The Rapper, Nick Cannon, Ne-Yo, and Tank are among the many people who vowed to stop supporting the disgraced singer. Chance and Nick even apologized for collaborating with the Pied Piper. However, RCA Records have been under fire for enabling Kells for years and it looks like they’re finally about to do something about it.

TMZ reports that RCA/Sony will not be financially supporting any of R. Kelly’s upcoming projects until the criminal investigation against him in Georgia is resolved. The “I Admit” singer has to complete two more albums under his deal but the label isn’t putting any money behind his music or videos.

The label could possibly be sued if they drop R. Kelly without any criminal charges to justify breaching the contract. On the other hand, they will be caught up in a public relations whirlwind if they release any of his music while the #MuteRKelly movement continues to grow.
