A Russian rapper has deleted a pro-Moscow video he posted after receiving massive backlash. By the time Timati scrubbed the clip for a song called “Moscow,” it had amassed 1.5M dislikes.

Apparently, this guy, who is also one of the wealthiest people in Russia, is pro-Putin, which surely makes life easier in said nation if you’re a rapper. Also, he has homophobic bars, too.

Reports Raw Story:

Timati, a 36-year-old rapper known for his fervent support of President Vladimir Putin, posted the video, titled simply “Moscow”, shortly before Muscovites were set to vote in elections for city parliament on Sunday that had caused mass protests.

“I don’t go to rallies, I don’t bullsh*t,” the song goes, apparently referring to weeks of protests in Moscow after the authorities barred opposition candidates from running in the polls.

Lyrics in the clip praise the Russian capital as a wealthy city that has become “world standard” and “doesn’t hold gay parades.”

“I will down a burger for Sobyanin,” the song says, referring to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, a Putin ally who has been in charge since 2010 and is detested by the opposition for refusing permission for rallies and cracking down on protesters.

Reportedly, Timati took the clip down after all the negativity it elicited. Ya think? Even the other guy featured on the song, Guf, says he was a victim of the jig.

“I’m deleting the video to stop this wave of negativity,” Timati wrote on IG. “I made a record. Only I didn’t have such a goal.”

Putin’s influence is heavy on these world streets ain’t it? Just ask the Russian-cosigned fool currently occupying the White House.

Also, nothing is ever truly deleted on the Internets…

An artist affiliated with Lil Wayne‘s Young Money recording label imprint was sentenced this week to life in prison on a double murder conviction. Widner “Flow” Degruy was handed down the sentence on Tuesday (May 14) in connection to a 2015 Memorial Day case.

NOLA.com reports:

Degruy, 27, was convicted April 8 of two counts of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. A jury deliberated about 1 ½ hours before convicting Degruy, a rapper signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money record label, in 11-1 verdicts.

He pleaded guilty earlier to obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice in the case.

In an impact statement read before Criminal District Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier handed down Degruy’s sentence, the brothers’ mother, Sherry Strauss, said her children were her “everything.”

Assistant District Attorney Irena Zajickova read the statement on Strauss’ behalf as she sat in the gallery of the courtroom.

“In the beginning, I hated you,” Strauss wrote. “I considered you a monster. Today, I no longer hate you. I feel sorry for you.”

The Bishop brothers – 18-year-old Kendred, who went by the name Kirby, and 22-year-old Kendrick, a rap artist signed to Degruy’s record label who performed as MuddyCupBuddy – were gunned down inside a black Kia sedan in the 4800 block of Bright Drive around 5:45 a.m. on May 25, 2015.

The outlet adds that Degruy carried out the slaying because he believed the brothers stole $8,000 from him girlfriend’s car according to prosecutors, but Degruy put the slayings on his co-defendant, who received 20 years for cooperating and put the crime on Degruy.

Florida Struggle Rapper Locked Up For Threatening To Shoot Up College Campus

Contentious Florida Senate And Gubernatorial Midterm Election Results Remain To Be Definitively Settled As Recount Looms

A struggle rapper based in Florida found himself on the wrong side of the law after lyrics of his threatened violence at a college campus in the state. The lyric seemingly suggested that the artist known as Jun Jun would confront a musical rival at a University of Florida sports contest and shoot the event up.

Gainsville.com reports:

Christopher Maurice McCallum, 26, 620 NW 19th Ave., was arrested Tuesday, according to a warrant affidavit filed by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

“Rap is a heavily stigmatized genre of music,” said Clay Calvert, a First Amendment expert on faculty in the UF College of Journalism and Communications. “It’s not unusual for rap to find itself in the crosshairs of prosecution.”

At issue is a rap posted on McCallum’s Facebook page March 22 that deals with a feud between McCallum, Gainesville men and another rapper. It alludes to a March 23 rap concert by Keyanta Bullard at 8 Seconds, a downtown club.

In the song McCallum raps he will “catch you at a Gator game and shoot the whole campus up.”

The outlet adds that any threat of such violence, even written, is considered a felony in the state.

Label Execs Reveal How They Make Rappers Go Viral

They call it “The Pump Plan” based on the viral success of Florida Emcee “Lil Pump”. A formula for helping rappers go viral. A new report from Vulture examines how labels are snatching up viral sensations and cashing in big. WSo what’s the secret formula for getting rappers like XXXtentacion, Lil Pump and 6ix9ine to become viral sensations? Producer Rojas and Alex Gelbard of Inzei Records explain how they marketed lil Pump to viral success with a ten-step plan now known as “The Pump Plan.”

Rojas and Gelbard released their secret to Vulture’s Lauren Levy to which she explained in her article:

The two of them helped build Lil Pump’s career using a method they now refer to as the ‘The Pump Plan.’ It’s a ten-step program that guarantees transforming a local rapper or minor celebrity into a meme and then a viral sensation using a set of proven marketing tricks. It includes tactics like: social-media influencer campaigns, meme-ing the artist, Musical.ly placements, World Star promotions, and something called ‘controversy projects,’ which seems to mean planting feuds between artists and igniting drama to stoke controversy and online attention. They pitch it to new artists they’re looking to sign.”

Thinking about becoming a viral sensation? well, the proof is in the pudding and say what you want about Lil Pump, the kid is cashing in. Think about it, doesn’t this formula, in 2018, seem to make at least a little sense? We are living in a time where our avatars have become as much of our identity as the way we act, speak and interact with real-life social events. We spend more time on Instagram then we do with our families, which is a little sick. We also know that the more followers you have, the more status you actually have in real life. It’s a sad truth but if you can get hot on Instagram, Twitter and/or YouTube for simply being in a bunch of places at once regardless of your talent, you too can take over the rap game. We live in a sad age of where clout is more valuable than talent.
