HBO Unveils Trailer For Ralph Lauren Documentary ‘Very Ralph’ [Video]

We are about to get a closer look into the story of one of America’s greatest designers. HBO has released a sneak peak for the upcoming Ralph Lauren film.

Lo Lifes and RL enthusiasts alike are now counting down to November as the official release date to Very Ralph; the first ever documentary on the fashion on icon, has been announced. According to Home Box Office’s website the project is directed and produced by award-winning documentarian Susan Lacy (HBO’s “Jane Fonda in Five Acts,” “Spielberg”).

Featured in the one minute clip is Tyson Beckford, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Martha Stuart and his wife Ricki Lauren. Also included is some vintage of Ralph during the brand’s early stages and some behind the scenes visuals of his current team prepping for the Ralph Lauren 50th anniversary show from 2018.

Very Ralph will debut on HBO on November, 12. You can watch the trailer below.

1967 Flows: HBO Is Releasing A Documentary On Fashion Giant Ralph Lauren

The country’s most beloved designer will have his legacy captured in movie form. HBO is prepping a film on Ralph Lauren and we are here for it.

Variety is reporting that Home Box Office is about to release a documentary on unofficial architect of modern street wear. Very Ralph aims to detail RL’s life story from his beginnings in The Bronx to founding his fashion brand Polo in 1967. Since then the 79-year-old’s brain child has become synonymous with American style. Additionally it has grown to become an indelible fixture in Hip-Hop culture.

The press release reads as follows:

“With an uncanny ability to turn his dreams into reality, Ralph Lauren has built a multi-billion-dollar, global powerhouse out of his aspirations, becoming a living embodiment of American optimism and the American Dream. For more than 50 years, he has celebrated the iconography of America and defined American style, translating his vision and inspiration into one of the world’s most widely recognized brands. In ‘Very Ralph,’ as he enters his sixth decade in business, Lauren reflects on his journey from a boy from the Bronx who didn’t know what a fashion designer was, to becoming the emblem of American style all around the world.”

The film will feature interviews and commentary from fashion influencers including the late Karl Lagerfeld, Jason Wu, Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg, Anna Wintour, André Leon Talley, Robin Givhan, Tina Brown, Vanessa Friedman and Tyson Beckford. Very Ralph will air November 12.

Uncle Ralph and team isn’t getting off the 1990’s wave any time soon. They are bringing back of their most popular brands right in time for summer.

As reported by High Snobiety Ralph Lauren is relaunching their Polo Sport line. The active wear apparel will be reintroduced this week via a small number of thoughtful pieces intended to pay homage to the original designs. Included in the collection are some key color blocked outer wear pieces with chunky spell out branding.

Additionally the Polo Sport name will also live on two specific schemes. One is a denim set that is a nod to the preferred baggier cuts of the early 90’s. The latter is a metallic windbreaker flavored set for properly styled sports inspired flexing.

The Polo Sport LTD capsule will be available exclusively on the POLO App starting Thursday, May 30. You can view the collection below.

Polo Ralph Lauren Launches Heated Outerwear Collection [Photos]

Ralph Lauren will marry technology and their classic American design together this winter. The brand is introducing heated outerwear to their portfolio.

As spotted on High Snobiety Ralph Lauren is launching RL Heat. Compromising of three goose down coats the drop will feature a digital component to ensure maximum warmth for the wearer. According to the press release these include a special lining that distributes heat throughout the piece. The layer is charged with a compact Mophie battery that plugs into an interior pocket and controlled by an app.

Ralph Lauren enthusiasts and Lo-Heads alike will be happy to hear that a grail item is being brought back as part of the RL Heat release. The Polo 11, commonly referred to as the “NASA”, was originally released under the now defunct Polo Jeans Company label in 1997. It will now fly under the Polo Ralph Lauren flag with some slight tweaks to design and of course the heating system. The Polo 11 is complemented by the new Polo Glacier Jacket, a parka that combines the same technology with a clean modern design in navy and silver colorways.

As expected the Polo 11 won’t come cheap or easy. It is priced at $1,098 and will only be available in limited quantities via the Polo app on January 24. The Glaciers will be $898 a pop and can be purchased at retail locations.

Uncle Ralph might have another hit on his hands. The online  feedback on the upcoming Polo x Palace collection has been favorable thus far.

Earlier this week a video look book was released for the collection. Included in the drop were pieces that successfully represented both brand’s identity. The teaser has been well received by fans and re-sellers alike and High Snobiety has compiled some of the best responses.

For starter’s their take on RL’s iconic teddy knitted sweater with a bear doing a kick flip on a skateboard has been called an instant classic.

While the majority of the responses were complimentary not everyone was satisfied with the set. Some Lauren loyalists complained that the collaboration was a step down for America’s fashion brand.

After much speculation and some potential concern we get our first taste of the Polo Ralph Lauren x Palace collaboration. Lo heads can breathe easy; the capsule is looking promising.

As per Hypebeast Palace has started to leak some visuals from the upcoming drop. The skateboard company released a teaser video that incorporates both brand’s signature touches.

Palace skateboarders Chewy Cannon, Juan Saavedra, Lucien Clarke and Rory Milanes are seen enjoying the great outdoors. The team is of course sporting wears from the capsule which includes  automobile branded courderoy pants, a lumberjack inspired flannel jacket with matching pants and tartan loafers.

As with any RL collection there are some obvious standout pieces that could be grailed. At the 10 second mark we get a close up to what appears to be an all silk pajama set with equstrian designs. Additionally we get a navy blue teddy bear knit sweater with some skateboard kick flip action.

Palace Announces Polo Ralph Lauren Collaboration

If Ralph Lauren chooses to partner with your brand consider yourself lucky. It looks like Palace is about to enter that rare space.

While nothing has been formally announced by either company all signs point to yes. Three billboards in Tokyo appeared earlier this week for a very obvious co-branding effort. As per High Snobiety the advertisement’s placements feature a navy blue background with both logos in white. No dates, or any hits for that matter, regarding the timing of a release were included.

Founded in 2011, the skateboard brand has become insanely popular thus gaining mainstream popularity. In 2016 their t-shirts were seen on both Kanye West and his daughter North. 2018 would mark yet another noted collaboration for Palace. Earlier this year they dropped a Oakley capsule and a tennis themed collection with adidas.

Ralph Lauren continues to take us back to the golden era of Polo. The designer’s winter collection is a mix of bold graphics and clean color block schemes.

As Hype Beast reports Polo Ralph Lauren’s newest cold weather apparel is a nod to one of their most popular drops from the 80’s and 90’s. Commonly referred to as the “Suicide” or “Sui” by Lo-Lifes and enthusiasts alike, all the pieces bear a skier hitting a downward slope in different shapes and sizes.

Similar to their recent “Hi-Tech” drop the Downhill Skier collection features heavier outwear items. Included are crew neck sweaters, vests and hoodies. While the entire drop looks solid all around as expected there are some standout pieces that are sure to become instant vintage.

A blue and while bubble coat captures the essence of the theme with the skier boldly showcased across the chest. Additionally the iconic crest symbol lives nicely on a chunky knitted turtleneck. Accessories also come into play in the form of fanny packs and backpacks. Lastly their signature Ranger Boots get an update with Alpine branding.

Ralph Lauren Launches Polo Mobile App, Announces Yankees Collaboration

America’s most revered fashion brand is finally stepping into the digital age. The Polo Ralph Lauren app is here.

As an additional layer to their year-long 50th anniversary celebration the house that Ralphie built is going mobile. The new platform will allow consumers to not only purchase apparel but also embed themselves deeper into the RL lifestyle.

“This is a shoppable app, but that’s not really what it’s about,” says David Lauren, Chief Innovation Officer. “Our goal here is to create a culture and community that we’re a part of, where we can speak to our customers and learn from them.”

Subscribers will be privy to exclusive content, collection previews, rare pieces, vote on designs and an “Ask Ralph” section where the man himself will answer fan’s questions every week. In the coming months other features will be added including a forum where Ralph Lauren wears can be traded amongst users.

“There are so many people who have been buying, trading and selling Ralph Lauren, that we thought it would be interesting to create something that united this community, so that they could meet each other and learn about other collectors” Lauren detailed.

Along with the app the company announced a New York Yankees inspired collection. The limited-edition line will include a satin baseball jacket, a New Era “RL 50” hat, a Wilson baseball glove and a branded Rawlings baseball.

As a longtime Yankees fan Ralph Lauren will throw out the first pitch during the Yankees and Boston Red Sox game on Thursday, September 20. The collection will be available soon after on the Polo App.
